Disappointed

Disappointed our room was not made up during our stay. The carpet hadn’t been vacuumed between visitors as it was visibly dirty. Hallways were dirty and would have rubbish on them during the day. Heated pool was barely tolerable, it was so cold. Pillows were not suitable and beds were soft.

On check in our room had a really bad odour. After goong down to reception, tje gentleman behind the counter firstly said there was nothing that could be done After arguing with him, he offered a room upgrade to a king with a sofa bed We were told, that we would have to pull the bed out. The room we had booked had two queens. As it was myself and my teen age daughter, all i wanted was a room with two beds. After another discussion, Eventually, tje manager came out and found the same room and out us in it. The shower was broken and the buffet breakfast was cold and it took 25mims for some items to be replenished.

Unfortunate experience

The hotel is in a great location and all of the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately this is where it ends. The housekeeping department let the hotel down significantly. Within minutes of checking into our room I called reception as I wasn’t confident the shower had been cleaned. There was dust pushed up into the corners of the shower and shower tiles did not look clean. I had to call reception off my mobile as there were no numbers on the phone. We were moved into another room and provided drinks vouchers. Unfortunately the next rooms shower wasn’t much better. The shower head is very powerful and floods almost half of the bathroom. The sink leaks slightly underneath. On day 2 after being out our room key stopped working & reception had our room under someone else’s name but were able to fix this. When we returned it was obvious housekeeping has been as the beds were made but the toilet & carpet were not clean and our hand soap was missing. I had to call twice before housekeeping came and vacuumed. I asked again for soap. While they vacuumed my family and I waited in the hallway dripping wet having returned from the pool. There is no mention of the room window overlooking the restaurant so if you want natural light in your room you risk no privacy as patrons at the restaurant waved at my kids when I first opened the curtains. The air conditioning vent hasn’t been cleaned and month and it does not cool very well.

Great staff. Everyone helpful and accommodating. The air conditioning in the room was noisy through the night. My biggest issue was the bedding. Two flat sheets covering a soiled duvet does not do it for me. Overall a good stay.

First the bad news, not much , the shower in room 336 spills into the main bathroom and does not drain, and the shower mixer taps are really fiddly. Also forgot to mention to checkout the seat back of the office chair is about to come off. The rest is good, ultra clean, great bed, bit of an outlook, good barista girl, great 11am check out which gave me time for laps in the great pool and spa. Good overall price. Very well designed property, best I have come across with a brilliant atrium.

Not one to normally review nor complain but you have expectations of Rydges I guess. Cleanliness was quite Poor, carpets were skimmed over at best, milk in the mini bars were out of date, a few other little things. Buffet breakfast was unfortunately average at best. Housekeeping swiped into and came into our room without announcing themselves when one of our children weren’t clothed. Unapologetic and didn’t see any issue with this. Concierge and restaurant staff were all professional and lovely.

Overpriced for a dated hotel in Canberra. Dodgy aircon blowing cold air even when off. View out our window was to an internal corridor, so we had to keep blinds closed. Breakfast buffet was understaffed, many items unavailable and a pretty poor experience. Staff seemed disinterested.
