I’ve stayed at the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills many times over the years, dating back to when Sam Nazarian and SBE ran the property — and unfortunately, what once made this hotel special has completely eroded.
Under SBE, the SLS was bold, vibrant, and detail-driven — every visit felt curated and personal. From the staff to the design to the service, it had soul. Now, under Marriott’s Luxury Collection, it’s become yet another generic high-end hotel trading on faded prestige. The rooms no longer have that edgy charm and service feels reactive rather than anticipatory. The bubbled and worn carpeting throughout the venue are testament to the hotel’s fall from once meticulous standards. The rooftop pool and restaurant are a mess and in need of a deep clean at a minimum - just looks drab.
