I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego - Mission Valley for Pride Weekend and had a great experience at the property itself. The room was clean, check-in was smooth, and the staff on-site were friendly and welcoming. The location is perfect for a staycation — central, walkable, and convenient.
However, the business side of Hilton was extremely disappointing. Due to an honest booking error, I was charged $340 for a reservation I never used (booked for the wrong weekend). I immediately rebooked for the correct dates and even extended my stay by a day — so Hilton actually made more money from me in the end. Despite this, corporate refused to issue a refund and ignored the opportunity to make it right.
It’s frustrating to see corporate greed override common sense and customer care. The hotel experience was great — but the lack of accountability from Hilton’s management left a bad taste. Just know that if anything goes wrong with your booking, you may be on your own.
