It was filthy we had to go 4 rooms before they found one clean. There was stuff in the sinks the beds weren’t made pillows on the floor air conditioning didn’t work. The whole place smelled like mildew. There was bubbles in the walls from leaks you could push stains all over and dirty bedding. The front desk lady was even embarrassed and said she wouldn’t stay In there. As an apology they offered a bottle of water and a cup of ramen noodles. We ended up sleeping In the car.

Bathroom needs help but good overall

Breakfast was good and overall the room was good, but the bathroom left a bit to be desired. There was no flat surface in the shower to put soap/shampoo on. The toilet seat was too small for the bowl and the tape holding the lid of the tank on just took the quality down a few notches

Front desk staff was rude and unhelpful. They gave us a room on a floor filled with teenage boys that were loud all night long. When we asked for help to quiet them down, we were told "Sorry. Try turning on some Metallica or Pantera up high and rocking out while you fall asleep". Unacceptable! Our toilet clogged. The shower had no shelf. We had to put our soap on the floor. Biting ants all over the property. No electrical outlets outside were working. Both of our entry cards were working when accessing the outer door, but then suddenly stopped working to open our room door, on separate days. I feel the clerk did this on purpose for complaining about the rowdy boys. No microwave in room. Sink was leaking. It is a great location but this hotel really needs a deep refurbishing and more accomodating staff. We will not be back

Several things detracted from a nice stay. The walk to the elevator is long/inconvenient and not well marked. The soap for the shower was pitiful (about the size of 2 quarters). Other supplies were feeble (and there is no shelf in the shower to put those tiny bottles) Feels like a cheap cost cutting move. Very loud/noisy exhaust fan in bathroom. Way too noisy - there should be quiet hours, but children were playing outside past midnight and running around halls yelling at 2:00 AM. Facility needs cleaning (look out the windows on 5th floor near elevators - dozens of spider webs). However, the bed was good, there were convenient outlets for charging, A/C worked well, breakfast was average.

Low expectations met

This hotel cannot be beat for it’s convenience to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and is the #1 reason why it was chosen for our stay. We loved the extremely comfortable beds and the incredibly soft and absorbent bath towels. That being said, the property is in need of some serious updating. Initial impression of the rooms (we had 3) were quickly squashed with the dirty vinyl floors, ‘gallons’ of caulk used around the tub edges and where it met the floor, and the year(s) of frost build-up in the room’s mini-fridge’s freezer. Breakfast buffet items were nearly bare bones. Of our 3 rooms: two were missing hair dryers, all had an ironing board but no iron, one had a rack to hang clothes – but no hangers, one had a toilet that allowed one flush, but the water tank would not re-fill. The single bar of soap offered was the size of 2 postage stamps, barely enough for one bath/shower. Chip in the tub by the train was patched – but the patch peeled off. While it was not measured, the gap below the room door and the floor was so large, we had to stuff towels in there to completely darken the room from the corridor lighting. The television in 1 room would not turn on (the ‘power’ light come on, but not the tv) and the remote for the tv was all taped up with electrical tape to keep the batteries from falling out. Photos are included with this review.

Old but sufficient

The property is old. It looks semi-abandoned on the outside, but inside it looks better, having been partially renovated. Even then, evidence of its age shows. However, it was clean and comfortable enough to get sleep, and the breakfast was excellent, so don’t judge a book by its cover, I guess?
