We stayed at this hotel for five nights while attending a wedding in Varese. The room was a reasonable size, clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent, being adjacent to the old town and city centre, making it easy to access most attractions, restaurants, and shops on foot.
Unfortunately, our experience was let down by an interaction with a member of the housekeeping staff. On one occasion, I accidentally left my room without my key. A cleaner was working in the room opposite and had seen me leave my room moments earlier. When I realised I had forgotten my key, I politely asked if she could help me access my room so I could retrieve it. Understanding that there was a language barrier, I used a translation app to explain the situation.
The cleaner refused and instructed me to go to reception. While I appreciate that there may be security policies in place regarding room access, I found the interaction unnecessarily abrupt and unfriendly.
In addition, throughout our stay, we often felt uncomfortable remaining in our room after 10:00 a.m. as it seemed there was an expectation that the room should be vacated early for cleaning. While I fully understand the need for housekeeping to complete their work efficiently, the approach made us feel somewhat unwelcome as guests.
Overall, the hotel benefits from a great location and clean accommodation, but our experience with the housekeeping service had a significant impact on our stay.
