We stayed at this hotel for five nights while attending a wedding in Varese. The room was a reasonable size, clean, and comfortable. The location is excellent, being adjacent to the old town and city centre, making it easy to access most attractions, restaurants, and shops on foot. Unfortunately, our experience was let down by an interaction with a member of the housekeeping staff. On one occasion, I accidentally left my room without my key. A cleaner was working in the room opposite and had seen me leave my room moments earlier. When I realised I had forgotten my key, I politely asked if she could help me access my room so I could retrieve it. Understanding that there was a language barrier, I used a translation app to explain the situation. The cleaner refused and instructed me to go to reception. While I appreciate that there may be security policies in place regarding room access, I found the interaction unnecessarily abrupt and unfriendly. In addition, throughout our stay, we often felt uncomfortable remaining in our room after 10:00 a.m. as it seemed there was an expectation that the room should be vacated early for cleaning. While I fully understand the need for housekeeping to complete their work efficiently, the approach made us feel somewhat unwelcome as guests. Overall, the hotel benefits from a great location and clean accommodation, but our experience with the housekeeping service had a significant impact on our stay.

Excellent after a long day.

Just a quick one night stay but staff very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and spacious just what you need after a long journey. I would definitely recommend. Although its called crystal hotel its actually a best Western not that this takes anything from my response. I will definitely be back.

Good value for $$ but just adequate for the heart

Firstly, I question the 4-stars that hang outside this Varese Hotel. In life it is often better to undersell one’s greatness and on this occasion the fact that it does not deserve its stars plagued us. Now if it had subtracted one of this merits we would have been happier with our stay. Let’s cherish our rating system. Everything about this hotel is just OK. Worth the price I suppose. It just doesn’t seem to want to be anything special. There is no kettle or coffee station in the room and the fridge looked sad and somewhat mouldy. Location is good. Right on the edge of the lovely old town. The service is adequate. I want more than adequate or someone that would hope to be more than adequate. On a more positive note, the breakfast spread is really good!! All in all, good value for $$ but not for the heart.

5 story hotel with a view of the mountains

On a quiet street next to the historic center, the 5 story hotel has great views of the mountains. But the adjacent hookah bar allows smokers outside, so it is noisy until they close. Nice people at the front desk and housekeeping. Would stay again.
