The man on reception was polite and helpful. Our room was OK but when we came back to it on the second afternoon it had been flooded- very badly. Any of our stuff which was on the floor was soaked. I reported to reception and we were quickly moved to another room which was fine but it was hard to dry our stuff. No-one checked to see if we were OK or explain (in fact I think they thought it was our fault- that we had left a tap running for example. But we are sure we had not and in any case, that surely would not have caused the amount of flooding that occured). The pool and steam room were nice but the rest of the hotel looked uncared for with heaps of junk piled outside. Also, no restaurant so not only no evening meal but no breakfast and the hotel is some distance away from anywhere else to eat. Is this place being run down prior to closure? A shame as it used to be quite a smart hotel.

When we checked in, there is a sign on recpetuon saying kitchen closed. At this point, we realised that there was no catrring gacilities on site at all. Apparently, 2 weeks ago, all catering stopped. No communications from hotel, nothing to auggest management even care. The manager was arguing with a lady and her young child that theres nothing he can do, kitchen is closed, that is that. I guess it was a bad eho report, before bar, kitchen, snacks, everyrhing was closed!! Not a good start. Check in was exceptionally slow, staff (apparently the general manager) had absolutely no chat, not even "have you had a good journey?" Or "welcome to Landmark hotel". Less care would have been impossible. Room was nice... the new company haven't managed to destroy them yet. When the heating comes on around 2 or 3am, it is quite noisy, and gets very hot, very fast, menaing less quality sleep. The lamp was broken at 1 side of the bed. But the design inroom was lovely. There is a patch of ceiling reqqdy to collapse in the corridor.to the bedrooms, and when we turned the wrong way out of our room, there was a parch of ceiling had collapsed and a large gaping hole in the roof in the fire stairwell. This used to be a really nice hotel,

The kitchen was closed for a week. The hotel did not inform me of this at the time of booking nor prior to arriving. I was travelling by train so did not have the option of leaving to get any food or drink. I ordered food online but asking for cutlery seemed to cause an issue with the staff. Eventually I was given some but told I had to wash them myself. Also the number code lock for the rooms is not safe, especially for solo female travellers.

On arrival, I was informed that the bar and restaurant were closed and I was unable get any food or drink, after a 5 hour drive to get there this was far from ideal, I was only staying for 1 night for business. This should have been communicated to me prior to arrival and I would have been able to make alternative. Very poor communication for this reason I would not recommend.

On arrival there was no food or drink available. The whole area was closed and the person on reception was very unhelpful. There wasn’t even a cold offering or snacks. just that the whole area was closed. I have being staying at this hotel for the last 8 years for business and slowly its gone down hill. Never again.

The hotel is in need of an upgrade, the leisure facilities are old and outdated and the rooms are tired. I had paid for breakfast when booking Only to find the kitchen was under renovation so no food on the evening and no breakfast in the morning. No refund was offered for the amount of paid for breakfast except after arguing the case I was offered an upgrade on my room to a superior room., looking at my superior room in my opinion it barely makes the basic premier in standard. Not really impressed and won’t be back.

The hotel was really nice, clean room and warm comfortable environment, the only let down was with the staffing levels. Reception appeared fine, there were no issues with check in. There was only one gentleman serving in the lounge where we had booked afternoon tea. He was manning the bar and serving meals single handed, often leaving people waiting at the bar. Breakfast was unmanned, no staff to welcome or show us to a table so we helped ourselves, we were almost finished when the same gentleman from the previous evening appeared and began clearing tables. my mother had wanted to ask for porridge but no staff around to ask. We felt this was a let down on the hotel, The gentleman worked very hard to keep everything running and did his best but could have been helped by a few more members of staff.
