I checked in and was immediately hit with a surprise — the front desk clerk informed me I’d be charged for parking. I asked why, since there was no mention of this on the website when I booked. The clerk explained it was a verbal policy from the new owners. I agreed to let the charge go through but made it clear I would dispute it with the GM in the morning.
When I got to my room, none of the lamps worked. To make things worse, people were openly smoking Black & Mild cigars on their patios, and the smell was flooding the hallway. I was placed in the far back of the property, which felt intentional given I booked through Hotels.com — and for just a $1 difference from the hotel’s direct rate.
Then at 7:15 AM, housekeeping started vacuuming the hallways. I got barely any sleep. At checkout, I expressed my frustration. The front desk agent apologized but still charged me the full amount, minus the parking fee.
While the hotel exterior was charming, the overall experience felt subpar, especially for a Hotels.com guest. I believe a partial refund is warranted based on the issues I encountered.
