We stayed at the Renaissance Hotel near LAX for one night while in town for a concert and overall, it was a disappointing experience.
The parking lot was chaotic, with cars taking up two spots because most spaces were compact. At check-in, the front desk staff was kind and allowed us to check in an hour early, which we appreciated.
We called to request extra blankets and pillows for the couch sleeper before heading to dinner at the hotel restaurant, Studio 12. Only pillows were delivered, and the staff member told us the blanket had been “stolen off the cart” but would be brought later which didn’t happen until we asked again at the front desk nine hours later, around 12:30 a.m.
At Studio 12, our server was friendly, and we were excited to try the food. My husband ordered the burger and asked to upgrade his tater tots to the “loaded” tots shown on the appetizer menu. When the food arrived, the burger was missing the bacon jam, and the tots were plain. The waiter first said they “don’t have loaded tots,” then another server told us the kitchen was too busy to fix it and that they don’t allow upgrades to meals none of which was explained upfront.
Back in the room, the air conditioning never cooled properly, blowing warm air all night. And to top it off, housekeeping entered our room twice in the morning once at 7 a.m. and again at 8 a.m. despite us still being asleep.
The only positive I can mention is that the bed was comfortable.
