I stayed at Hotel Madeira in Dupont Circle for two nights over the weekend, and my experience was far below expectations. It took over 30 minutes to check in, which is unacceptable. The photos online are misleading and do not accurately represent the rooms. Cleanliness was lacking — the bathrooms were not properly maintained, and the towels were of poor quality.
The front desk hostess was completely rude, dismissive, and showed a lack of basic customer service skills during checkout. The valet service also deserves only one star for its inefficiency. My colleagues and I experienced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity issues that prevented us from completing parts of our business trip, and the unsecured Wi-Fi network is a concern.
In addition, there is no pool, the fitness area consists of only a few outdated and nonfunctional treadmills, and the onsite restaurant closes far too early — even on weekends. Extending the restaurant’s hours could improve the guest experience and attract local visitors or late-night diners from the Dupont Circle area.
Overall, the hotel fell short in service, professionalism, and amenities. With better staff training, improved cleanliness, reliable Wi-Fi, and extended dining hours, this property could better meet the standards expected in such a prime D.C. location.
