Not Worth The Hustle Or The Hassle
When I arrived in New Orleans I parked at a garage about a block and a half from the hotel to save some money on parking. The walk to the hotel with my luggage in ninety-plus degree weather and high humidity left me drenched in sweat. I tried to check in and was directed to another desk to get my room key. The person responsible was attending to another guest, leaving me to wait for about thirty minutes before he got to me--and then he tried to get me interested in a vacation club membership. I did not want to go to a sales pitch just to get my room key--I wanted to get to my room and cool off. All in all it was an hour from the moment I entered the door to when I finally got to my room. That is unacceptable.
The first time I tried to take a shower the fire alarm went off. I got off a fast as I could and called the front desk; they sent up an engineer who told me that steam from the shower set off the alarm. Next time I closed the bathroom door and turned on the overhead fan in the bathroom at full power--that seemed to solve that problem. But what good is a fire alarm that cannot tell steam from smoke?
The room itself was clean and neat, with a fully furnished kitchen. I could have stayed much longer had I stocked up with groceries, but the closest thing to a grocery store was the Brothers' Chicken convenience store across the street.
I may return to New Orleans in the future, I would not return to this hotel. Nice as the room was, it was not worth the hassle.
