I recently stayed at the La Quinta Austin South and cannot recommend it. First, there is major, unannounced construction happening on site. The loud drilling made it hard to get work done in the room, and the property smells strongly of paint thinner. Second, they still advertise a hot breakfast, but instead hand out a grab bag with a granola bar and a muffin. Finally, I was explicitly told at check-in that I could check out at noon. On my final morning, they claimed 11:30 AM was the absolute latest, and then tried to charge a $55 fee to stay until 1:00 PM. I specifically needed a late checkout because I had my dog and couldn't access my home until the afternoon. Originally I had considered buying an additional night so I could stay until the afternoon but I was so frustrated by the end that I will not give another $ to this hotel chain. Management needs to be transparent about ongoing renovations and honor the amenities they advertise.

Entire hotel was under construction an everything smelled like fresh paint, even our room. Is was NOT pleasant. Fitness center closed. I would not have booked this hotel had I known these conditions. However, the staff was friendly and our room was clean. Thin walls.

Absolutely appalling experience. Under construction and a complete mess. Elevator broken and we were put on the 4th floor with 150 lbs of luggage. Mattresses are lining the hallways. Charged way too much for such poor conditions

Staff was very accommodating. Especially when we had a very strong weird smell on our first room-they without hesitation switched us. Construction/upgrades are being done but didn’t bother us. It’s an older hotel, but bed were very comfortable and AC was cold which helped with a good nights sleep. Could be a little cleaner in my opinion but don’t effect our stay too much

Room was in good shape, but the facilities were being renovated and there was no ice available anywhere. All vending machines were removed. There was a distinct smell of construction throughout the hallways (drywall, etc...). I appreciate that the renovations are necessary but believe that those who are staying during the renovations should benefit from reduced rates.

Durante nuestra estancia nos encontramos con varios problemas: el elevador únicamente funcionó un día (de tres), la televisión nunca funcionó y cuando mencioné el problema me dijeron que intentara desconectar y volver a conectar. En cuanto a la habitación, el baño no cuenta con extractor entonces todos los olores se quedan ahí y no todas las lámparas funcionaban correctamente.

The bathroom was a joke. The showerhead kept coming off. There was no towel bar or toilet paper holder. The counter was barely big enough to fit the sink, so no room for makeup or much else. Thr channels.on the tv's guide didn't correspond to what was actually showing. The worst part was the dogs waking us up with their loud barking in the hallway just outside our door since 7:00 in the morning. This was very inconsiderste to the majority of guests at the hotel who PAY to have a restful stay the hotel (maybe designate a section for guests with pets?) and the last straw for me! I will NEVER stay at this hotel again.
