Thirty minutes after I checked in, unpacked, and was right about to settle in for a nap, the fire alarm went off. The entire 8th floor was going off. At first, I thought it was an accident, so I was just waiting for it to end. It never did. I grabbed the phone to dial the front desk and the phone was out of service. It was then that I realized the sprinklers were going off in the hallway! I had to rush and repack all of my things as quickly as I could. Laptop, all of my work trip clothes would have been ruined if the sprinklers went off in the room! The hallways quickly became flooded, and dirty flood water was now seeping into my room at a rapid pace. I had to urgently pack and throw towels down to try to slow down the rapid flooding that was taking place. I managed to pack everything right as the sprinklers stopped. I found a maintenance worker who helped grab my luggage and lift it through the flood. He got me back down to the lobby to get a new room. They upgraded me but it was still traumatic. Then, my last day of the stay, I had to assist in the rescue of a man who was stuck in their faulty elevator. God knows how long he was in there! I literally helped pull him out! He was not happy. I then found out he was just checking into the 8th floor! I had to warn him that the 8th floor had just flooded and advised him to change floors. So do not stay on 8, and do not take the elevator on the right. I was also almost stuck on it the day before.
