Should have booked elsewhere….

Hotel location was good for where our final destination was….but that’s where the good stops. After a long day of traveling and family activities we arrived to the hotel where we were delayed almost an hour at check in due to what I was told were computer issues. We finally get everything squared away and got our room keys and off we went. Got to the room door, slid the key in and turned the handle and were greeted by a locked security latch. We were given a room that was already occupied. Pretty sure we scared the people that were sleeping inside the room. So we trek back down to the lobby (a completely different building) and explain what happens. The desk guy apologized and we were given another room and keys and off we went. We get to the 2nd room and wouldn’t you know it….it was occupied. This time we were yelled at by the occupants who appeared to have been intoxicated. So myself, my wife, 15yo son, 13yo daughter and 3 year old daughter are getting yelled at in the hallway at no fault of ours. Who knows how out of hand things could have gotten if I didn’t apologize and try and explain the situation. So once again we trek back down to the lobby where we were apologized to a 3rd time now. So now the front desk guy said he got us another room and he will go check it out himself first…I agreed as I told him I’m not walking back and forth a 3rd time. All this time I have 3 grumpy kids who were ready for bed 90 minutes prior. Issues with room…but I’m out of characters.

The hallways and stairways of the hotel was filthy my room was dirty hair in the tub in the bathroom floor and in the sink never had housekeeping services I didn’t have a basket in my room I had to take my towels to the lobby every night to get more I had furniture was old couches was stained up real bad pulled out the sofa bed it was and old spring mattress uncomfortable life’s it up and crumbs was underneath and the mattress had a thousand rust stands I had 2 rooms the down stairs room the water in the shower for warm not hot and we found a roach crawling on the face bowl when I asked to staff who was super awesome and nice about the dirty hallways and stained couches she said I’m sry we are in the process of renovating just don’t stay here if ur expecting a really nice place the only food it was close to the base and it live streamed the graduation for my family who had to stay back at the hotel

Hotel is in bad shape

The hotel was quite run down. The bathroom fan seemed to be broken. Breakfast was way too cluttered and a fuse blew and took out the pancake machine before we could use it. All in all, it was an underwhelming stay.

Don’t stay

Paying the amount of money we spent for the 2 room suite, I feel we should have gotten nicer furniture. Theda were hard- couch in family room was broken, the chairs were peeling and the bathroom was dirty… we were there celebrating our son graduating from Navy bootcamp.

Spacious Sonesta

I booked this stay at the last minute as it was one of the least expensive hotels in the area at that time. The facility was great! On site was a basketball/volleyball court, swimming pool, outdoor eating area, indoor eating area for the free breakfast, fitness center, laundry room, and 24 hr coffee station. Inside the room was a full suite with two separate bedrooms with their own full bathrooms, sleeper sofa, full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and microwave. There was a tv in every room. Also, I like that there was a fireplace. This suite had plenty of room for my family of five. The only thing I didnt like was that there were visible stains on some furniture as if it had been washed, but; the stains did not come out. I will definitely look to stay at a Sonesta the next time I travel.

They were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond! We went for a graduation from Navy boot camp. They had directions written out to the graduation (in great detail) that saved us a great deal of time! They even live streamed the graduation on one of their meeting room for those who weee not able to obtain tockets

Decent with flaws

Staff was very friendly, and check in was quick. Also gave useful directions to Great Lakes Naval Base, and the local area. However, the couch had stains, and once it was pulled out there was no sheets on the mattress, and it was notably stained as well. The bathroom was not cleaned thoroughly, there was hair on the walls, and on the shower floor that were two different colors. Over all the stay was ok, but cleanliness was not up to par.

Three Star Hotel?

I’m not sure what constitutes a three star hotel, but this doesn’t seem like it would fit the bill. I normally don’t write reviews, but Felt like I needed to inform people that this is not what you would expect from a three star experience. while it was mostly clean, and the bed seemed comfortable, there were definitely areas where it seemed like a cheaper place to stay, Which makes sense since we’ve got a pretty good deal. We stayed two nights, and there was no housekeeping in between. In addition, our floor was sticky and the furniture was outdated including some peeling on the fake leather kitchen chairs. There was only a bar of soap for washing your hands at the sink (no lotion or liquid soap) and the bathroom looked like it had a tiny bit of mildew in the corner. Finally, while breakfast had some good hot offerings like scrambled eggs and sausage, it was only open until 9, so we missed it after sleeping in a little too late. Also, I was disappointed when we got to the hotel after going to Six Flags and realized the hot tub had closed at. 9pm. :-( It looked really inviting, so I was sad not to be able to take advantage of it. There was a basketball court that looked well kept.
