This was one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed! It was truly a magical location surrounded by enchanted gardens and forest! The architecture of the building was gorgeous. This historical property is absolutely beautiful and amazing. The age means the rooms are a bit tight, the windows shook in the high winds that night, and I would have loved some conditioner in the room, but other than that everything was great. Wonderful, elegant bar area and the French restaurant was top notch. If you are coming to see Coimbra, drive a little further and stay at Bussaco Palace... very reasonable rates considering where you are staying. Also tour the attached convent for 3 euros more... worth it as well. Highly recommend!

All staff we dealt with from signing in, the lounge and the dining room were amazing. Thank you for all you did to make our stay such a wonderful experience. The palace is definitely out of the way to get to but is worth the drive. We were there in March so the gardens were just beginning to come alive but we’re still impressive. Wifi is not available in the bedrooms but is available in the bar/lounge area.

Grand old palace treated like you are a royal gues

This is a grand old (1800) palace built by a king as a hunting lodge in the middle of a lush forest. If you want to enjoy a grand magical stay with service that makes one feel like they stayed in a kings palace of long ago this is it! We absolutely loved it. Had dinner in the hotel,Excellant.
