日本で言えば古民家再生のお宿みたいな感じで、20世紀初頭そのままのクラシックな部屋と調度を楽しめます。窓の木製ブラインドは今も完全に可動で特に文化財感高いです。他では見たことありません。マラソンで2回訪れましたが、スタッフも色々と面倒なリクエストを聞いてくれて、とても助かりました。

Monterey Hotel

We had the deluxe queen suite. The setup was awesome but needed the amenities of the regular double queen rooms with fridge and microwave. The rooms we had needed chairs to sit on other than just the bed. But over all it was great. Plenty of restaurants and attractions close by. The fisherman’s wharf was minuets away walking distance.

Love the charm

This hotel has lots of character and antique charm. It’s located walking distance to the wharf and lots of food nearby. The staff was all super friendly and cheerful. The topper on the cake was that they are also dog friendly!

Rooms are pretty bad

Rooms are bad. Mine was an interior room with no windows to outside. My windows instead were to a hallways with lots of light the blinds could not keep out. And a lot of noise came in including the sound of seagulls early in the morning. The air conditioner heater dial was manual and not precise, so the room was far too hot the whole night. They need to fix these issues. Had horrible sleep :(

The Monterey hotel stay

Great location to downtown Monterey. Staff was very friendly. The hotel was built in 1909, it kind of had a cool spooky feel to it. Would definitely stay again on my next visit. My only complaint is the valet price is high and you really need to valet. It didn’t feel safe to leave our car on the street.

Staying at this vintage hotel was a fun experience. The bed was very comfortable. The staff were kind. The coffee in the morning was nice. Lots of great places to eat near by. Be sure to reserve time for the hot tub.

Not a good first night

Customer service at both check in and check out were outstanding. We had three rooms for six people. The rooms were clean. Our room was very warm. We opened the window and had to use the oscillating fan to cool the room. There is no air conditioning or thermostat to control temperature. In the early evening of our first night, two members of our group were unable to get into their room. The keys (card) were unable to open door. My sister went down to lobby to get a new set of key; still did not work. We called downstairs and bellman came up to help. He, too, was unable to open the room. He tried again, this time shoving his shoulder into the door. It still did not open. He then said he would have to call a locksmith. My sister and her friend ended up waiting in our room. We received a call that it was going to take longer. I asked if they could be accommodated in another room; I was told there were no other rooms available. After 1.5 -2 hrs. Wait, my sister checked her room. The locksmiths made entry in their room through the window. They insinuated the my sister was at fault for breaking the door. She at no time touched the door, other than to try her key. To sum everything, the employees both at the desk and those in the room were very rude. I would not recommend this hotel. It has a great location, but not worth the inconvenience and rudeness we were put through.

perfect location

the location is perfect so close to downtown and also close to some free public car parking in the weekend. unique furnitures very elegant and interesting. There was no breakfast included with my booking , I believe it may be a service they do not provide.

Historic Hotel Room

The person at the check in had poor customer service with the two customers in front of me and the supervisor came out to help and checked me in. They tried to charge a current guest who was extending his stay another deposit fee. Then when the customer left the desk the employee ignored us standing in the line, the customer in front of me had to ask if we could check in after a couple of minutes of waiting to be called forward. The employee said she was waiting for a customer to return but could help us while they waited. There is a parking garage about a block away you can park in for free from 6pm to 9am. If you are just staying overnight that is a great option. Valet parking is $30. I didn’t see anyone for valet on the side of the hotel we pulled up so I drove around to the other side and there was no on there. When I called the front desk they said to parking in the 3 minute loading zone and check in. They will get your keys at check in and valet your car. I just used the free garage instead. The two rooms we had were in the historical portion of the hotel. You can take the elevator up to your floor but then we had to go outside to cross over to our building and there were about 5 stairs we had to use. If you need an accessible room be sure to avoid the historical rooms. The rooms were clean and comfortable. They offer coffee in the lobby in the morning. Checkout went much smoother than checkin.
