Nice to see this hotel open again. Very convenient for the rail station (as in across the road!)
Not much to look at from the outside but clearly a lot of money has been spent inside - refreshed, repainted, new carpet.
Furniture in room could do with an update as it looks it’s age now, and the bathroom likewise as broken plug chain, no mixer taps and especially the horrid shower curtain lets the side down a bit after all the renovation.
Room and hotel was always clean and tidy, while all the staff we encountered were always professional and friendly.
Can’t comment on breakfast as this time we didn’t book any, but the breakfast room looked pleasant.
It was perfectly OK to get food delivered and eat in the lounge.
It’s not on the quietest or nicest of streets (unless you like curry or real ale - which we do and was one of the reasons we came back)! But that’s not the hotels fault!
