I stayed off season (October) and it was a perfect stay. Quiet, clean, comfortable- slept like an angel. Joao was so warm and welcoming and helpful. There's a jacuzzi on the roof that you can book for use. I booked during sunset- what a view! Perfect way to wind down before dinner. Any reviews that complain about having to move to the other building after checking-in at the main reception are absurd- the building is literally a few steps away. Overall, would definitely stay again during low season!! High season- might be noisy depending on the room.

This hotel is 1 minute walking distance to the Nazare beach. The location cannot be better. The narrow street made loading/unloading luggage a bit challenging, but it is Nazare in general.

I really enjoyed the location of this property. I stayed in Room 11 which doesn't really have a view or anything, and it's very compact, but it was perfect for what I needed. The location cannot be beat! Check in really starts at 3pm. I showed up at 2pm, and it was locked, which is totally fine! The breakfast is a prepared bunch of rolls, cheese, meat, coffee drink, jam, butter, and a real Nata pastry. Delicious! I would stay at By the Sea anytime I return to Nazaré.

Location fabulous. If you are a light sleeper, may hear kitchen noises til 11pmish as a restaurant on first floor and at back of property. But sadly, this goes along with having a convenient location. Note, I don’t think there is an elevator. Very functional room. Super clean. Would recommend for a short stay.

We loved our stay at By the Sea. Wish we could have stayed longer! The rooms were clean and suited our needs perfectly. We were a short walk from the beach, shops and restaurants. Parking was a challenge, but the hotel provided suggestions and we found something about a mile away. I imagine parking will be much more difficult during high season. Overall, great experience and would definitely stay there again.

We had a lovely view of the ocean and the village. We enjoyed the room very much, and took advantage of the balcony and the rooftop hot tub and terrace. Super cute decorations. Hotel is in the thick of all the action. No parking but we were given clear instructions on our choices, which were easy. Overall, loved this town!!

More like a pension

By the sea is really a pension not a hotel. It doesn’t have a lobby or anybody at a desk. The room is small and off the square and noises a little bit of a problem. If you go to bed early the condition of the room was good, but the door to the bathroom freaked loudly and would wake the dead. Otherwise room was meticulously clean, and the bed was comfortable. There was only one outlet in the room, except for the one behind the TV so charging your devices was a challenge if you have more than one. It’s a perfect place for a young people but 2 floors of steps didn’t work well for us. Location is excellent except moving on squares and mentioned. The price was a little higher than it should be for what it was. Getting in and out is more difficult than expected as there was no place to pull a car over.
