On checking in given first floor room up a narrow steep staircase. Reception said we should have requested a ground floor room, when I pointed out that I had, he couldn’t answer me other than to say they were full and couldn’t change our room. The stairs and landing carpets were dirty and the entire place needed redecorating. Although an effort was made, on our third day there, to clean the landing carpet the stains were so engrained some wouldn’t come out but at least it smelled a bit fresher. Decoration in the bedroom was little better. Poor attention to detail in the room. Taps, shelving etc hadn’t been cleaned, no sink plug! A strong smell of cannabis in the room which was eventually tracked down to two “spliffs” by the bedside drawer unit. Although the sheets had been laundered one still had some staining on it. Most unpleasant! Displaying a disabled badge, I parked in the disabled bay only to be told I couldn’t park there as the owner was disabled and he may come to the hotel and would need the place. In 4 days nobody parked in that spot. Breakfast was included with no option not to pay for it. As a coeliac there was nothing I could eat from the very limited options; my only choice was coffee which I could make in my room, anyway. The breakfast was set out in the reception area, no tables provided and a free for all to grab the very limited seating available and be in full view of the busy road. A bus service did pass the hotel it was not easy for city centre. Yuk!
