As numerous costumers before us, we found the hotel to be lovely… however outdated. A grand old dame in need of an upgrade. Mostly when it comes to the rooms, especially the bathroom. The old house is beautiful and the garden is breathtaking, I can see why so many plan their weddings at the hotel.
However, upon arriving, there was no warmth. The front desk staff seemed not interested in doing their job, everything felt like a bother.
The bright light was the Orangerie Bar and the atmosphere and food there - though we did have to hear from the staff how terribly busy the staff were as soon as we walked in and asked for a table.
And st Hellen has such beautiful history, however no introduction or anything to it. We found the library on our last day, by accident, hidden in the dark. Such a shame.
All in all.. picturesque surroundings with a beautiful main house, a need of an upgrade - if the price is to remain so, and a front desk staff in need of a refresher course in hospitality.
