Sorry Mendocino Hotel :(

For $250 Garden View King room I was dissapointed in the "garden view" of #310 it was a few small semi alive flowering plants with view of the street over walkway to upstairs rooms one with a large pup that moved around ALOT above me with its people. I hope The Marriott will bring the magnificent Historical Hotel back to its top service with restaurant and Bar. Bathroom fan did not work and a bedspread would have been nice.

Not what I was expecting

Walked in the main lobby and it smelled like weed and an old musty brothel. Our room didn’t have a bathroom and had to share with guest on same floor. I was unaware of this when booking and probably would not have chosen this location. Also, the mattress was very uncomfortable. On a positive note, The view from the upstairs porch was lovely and had dinner at a fabulous Italian restaurant down the street.

Property is an old Victorian era hotel. It is very good condition for it's age but it is in need of some TLC. As I understand it, the place will be closed soon for an extensive renovation. I surely hope that the Victorian charm and furnishings (as well as the stained glass on display throughout) are to return post reno. The staff was very accommodating and gave excellent service as well as suggestions for dining.

Old carpets everywhere. Smelled very bad. It is 1900 built hotel. Location is good across the ocean and walking distance to all resturants.

the place definitely has character and is unique - you really feel like you are in a historic building - the rooms are clean, location is perfect - they didnt modernize it all up so it feels very real which i think is cool and price is reasonable

I really like the European style rooms. It was nice to have the bay view room too while the Mendocino music fest was happening. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed my stay as much if I wasn’t facing the water, so thanks for that. Would come back.

Tour Mexico-Alaska 2025 Frank Guerrero

El personal es encantador... apesar de que no hablo el idioma "solo entiendo algunas cosas :)" su excelecte actitud rompio las barreras del idioma y me atendieron de manera increible, recomendandome lugares para comer y ver... La propiedad es fabulosa, muy antigua (de 1878 aproximadamente), pero esta en excelente estado de conservación. Al entrar me parecio pasar por un portal que me llevo al pasado (jajajaja), pero luego vi a otros huéspedes y al personal con vestimenta moderna y mi fantasía termino :( Me hubiera encantado quedarme mas tiempo para conocer mas de Mendocino el cual es increíblemente hermoso y con unos paisajes al rededor alucinantes... Tambien me quede con las ganas de ver un fantasma en el hotel, pero el personal me dijo que no habian... creo que con mas tiempo tal vez de pueda y muy seguramente me de un infarto, pero seria muy hemosionante. Por ahora sigo mi reto personal de viajar desde Mexico hasta Alaska, pero espero que Dios me permita regresar el proximo año, seguramente con mi amado hijo y tal vez algunos amigos a los que les comparti fotos y le comente lo lindo de el lugar y sus alrededores. A touch of elegant history

We had an amazing historical suite. The bathroom was huge. The main bed was huge but the tall height of the mattress made it almost impossible to get in and out of bed. The room was really only set up well for two people. We had three with only one light blanket for each of the two bedding areas. Mendocino is chilly so sleeping was a cold experience. There were also only two towels. They probably would have given us more towels and blankets but we were too tired to realize it would become a problem. The hotel itself is amazing for history buffs. It is beautiful and makes you want to learn more about history of the region. Then there is also the big swing on the second floor deck overlooking the bluffs and ocean. We really loved it in spite of the sparse linens. My granddaughter basked in the huge tub.

all about the location

The Mendocino Hotel is located on Main St in Mendocino, though the big old building is closed (as are all the restaurants and anything but the front desk). Very light on services (keurig coffee in rooms and lobby, couldn't find more than one key for our room) but the rooms are comfortable and the location great. Can walk along the coast and down to a beach. Parking available for the rooms separate from the main building--about a block away. Good price, especially given the location.

The property is gorgeous, but the bed felt like I was sleeping on a piece of lumber. My daughter's bed was equally "firm" with the added feature of a permanent indentation in the center that she could not escape.
