Was notified at 14:19 on the day we were supposed to book in that the hotel can unfortunately not honor our booking?!?! Had no where to sleep for 2 nights!!

Despite the entire booking for this property going through Expedia via their booking platform, this was a scam. The Dunes hotel itself is well run and just outside the bustling town of Plettenberg bay. Sadly we did not get to stay there. The manager, Neil had previously sent Expedia information about the scam in the weeks preceding our booking but unfortunately we were still scammed. A few other families were scammed via either the Expedia or viator booking app. The hotel manager was very helpful in explaining to us what had happened and what we could do going forward. It did eventually take Expedia staff a couple of hours to relocate us though this process needs refining and to be more efficient. Sadly we never did get to stay at a The Dunes hotel so we cannot rate it anymore than to say it’s manager, Neil, was very helpful.

This is a scam. The hotel does not exist. Hotels.com need to remove this hotel from their list ASAP.

We received a call 2hrs before our checkin time to cancel our booking, leaving us stranded.
With all that, we still drove to the venue to get clarity. When we arrived at the venue, we were told that this is a scam!

I never stayed, i was stranded in Plett for couple of hours, at the Hotel no one seemed to be interested in assisting us, when we got there we were told there was no booking its a scam and that was it.
No attempt to try and resolve the issue or at least find an alternative place or recommend one. we were so excited to spend 4 days in the Hotel all we got was a " sorry no booking"

Trotz bestätigter Bestätigung durch Expedia, im Hotel angekommen, erfahren wir, dass die Buchung "nicht existiert"! Offensichtlich vom Hotel in den Mülleimer geworfen. Expedia Service fand mit grosser Mühe bei komplett ausgebuchter Lage (Weihnachts- und Ferienzeit) einen Ersatz
