Labor Day getaway

We enjoyed our stay. This was the first time that we stayed on the strip in Gatlinburg. The hotel is located in a very good area. Easy access to everything. The only thing that I would recommend is that the mattresses could be a little more comfortable. They are very firm.

Breakfast: 1) Would like to see more variety with the breakfast. It was pretty much the same thing every day. For example, maybe you could alternate between bacon and sausage. Perhaps one day offer waffles. 2) Would like to have seen different kinds of creamers for the coffee (ex. vanilla, hazelnut), rather than just plain. 3) The breakfast setup was very clean. From the plastic silverware dispenser to the pancake maker, we noticed much less mess than we usually see at other hotels. We appreciated this very much : ) 4) Loved the milk that was offered : ) Pool: 1) There probably needs to be some sort of signage in the pool area saying how to turn on the jets for the hot tubs. Not many of us knew how to turn these on. And we understood there was some issue with the jets not always working (which, we hope this issue gets resolved), but when they WERE working, it was wonderful : )... Having an inside and outside pool was a real draw for us : ) Service: 1) The service was incredibly friendly. 5 stars for that : )

Run From This Place

Never will I stay here again. First they double charged me for parking so I had Hotel.com contact them about it. Then when I went to the front desk the lady I first spoke with was so rude to me. Then we get to our room and we checked it out. There were cracks, a hole and multiple repair spots on the bottom of the tub. There is no vent in the bathroom. The curtains were stained and the ceiling was filthy. The hotel is so run down. One night I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom only to turn on the light and see a roach in the bathtub. Nasty! Cracks and pealing spots everywhere. The place stinks so bad. One time we came out of our room and the smell of urine was so strong it took your breath away. The pool area is also run down. Their hot tubs were hot but the 2nd day the jets quit working and the water to the fountain and slide kept turning off. One good thing was the breakfast was good and the lady working it was wonderful. This hotel needs a major remodel because it is so run down. The owners should be ashamed of themselves for the conditions it is in.

Parking Fee!!

Edgewater has always been one of our favorite places to stay, especially when you get the Creekside rooms. That being said, there were a few hiccups this trip. We were charged a parking fee for each night that we stayed there, you’re not Vegas or a huge metropolitan downtown area, so really surprised by this after years of staying there and not being charged that. Then the second room that we had rented for our Friends, we told them after the first night that the refrigerator makes a horrible noise and they said that it’s self defrosting. We told them that that’s not what we thought it was doing, because it clunked all night long. They never came and took care of it. There’s a lot of things to really like about the facility, the view, the pool area, the rooms are nice and clean, the free breakfast is nice, and the convenience to walk over to the Main Street. But the parking fee really does bother me. If it’s used to cover the breakfast, then just add it to the nightly room cost.

Off-season bargain. Kinda.

This is an older hotel, well past it's prime. The rooms are spacious enough for two, and the bed was comfortable, but the bath towels are small and paper thin. Parking is an extra 16.50 per day, but it is covered. Awkward to get around if you plan to walk to shops and restaurants in town, but once you navigate your way out it is a 5 minute walk to most things. The breakfast was ok, the coffee not so much.

In the shower the water stayed in the tub while showering and the heavy brown blanket had another persons hair on it. Balcony had spider webs and a bit dirty. The staff however was amazing so big kuddos to them. The other downfall was the parking at the hotel was $15 + taxes ouch a bit steep.
