Property was clean and tidy. Limited access to the Mexican restaurant. Pools were great! Entertainment was great for younger audience. Beach was clean and tidy and one of the best in the area. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar tenders were very busy yet very attentive and fun. Had to take Taxis to Playa del Carmen....not close to the city.

Really enjoyed my stay here. Great pool and people. The service was excellent and very clean. The bathroom was ok, a bit dated. They did try to sell us excursions but wasn’t pushy when we said no. The food was good, really loved the bookable restaurants. The entertainment was good and more for older clientele. Great resort if you want to relax.

My son and I enjoyed a week at this beautiful property! The experience team made us laugh, get active and took time to get to know us personally, Kenndell, leads the experience team and he goes out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and laugh- he is truly the resort’s greatest asset! The restaurants were amazing and we were able to visit each one once and Expedia provided us with room service! Lupe at the spa works magic with her fingers so much so had to visit twice! There were only two ways to improve our stay~The beach needed to be cleared of the seaweed that arrived our first day and remained all week on shore, and the photographers were a little too aggressive IMO. Looking forward to returning with the rest of my family! Thank you Ocean Maya Royale for a memorable vacation!

Loved everything about this resort, from the dining options, to the clean and comfortable room. However, I won’t be back due to the noise coming from the party pool. Even though I was on the beach, far down from the pool, I couldn’t even read my book or listen to the waves because the music was blaring loud. So too bad.

Great layout on a really beautiful setting. They’ve got a GREAT length of beach with plenty of lounger chairs, hammocks and even a swing facing the ocean! 2 pools, one chock full of entertainment and activity, the other calm & quiet. Cleanliness and service are obviously a priority here. Only downside: no readily-available food by beach/pool area. You have to go into the nearby restaurant for a sit down meal or back up to the lobby for buffet. Would be great if the had a typical resort-style beach/pool grill with burgers or pizzas or nachos or tacos to grab ‘n’ go. 2 people in our group (and others we spoke to) unfortunately stricken with “Montezuma’s Revenge” :(. Buffet dinners were “ok” but available restaurants were really good. Only 1 tough to reserve was japanese tepanyaki. Entertainment staff are INCREDIBLE! Would recommend to anyone unless you’re a SEVERE, inflexible foodie.

We really enjoyed our time at Ocean Maya. The resort is not as big as other properties but that was the best of the property. Everything is walkable and the staff are so attentive. The events were fun and ranged from cocktail making, sushi making, yoga and paint n sip. Kendall from the experience team, is an amazing person! He is so fun to be around and made our stay that much better!! He hosted the karaoke night, aqua fit and other events. The rooms are clean and very lovely. The staff are nice. The beach is SO CLOSE and since it’s smaller resort there’s a lot of lounge chairs and hammocks through the day. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful property with lush grounds. The beach is lovely, water is clear and you can walk a long distance. Food is pretty good: favourite was the sushi bar, breakfast buffet and the coffee shop.

What you get at this resort for the price is excellent. It doesn’t have the polish of a 5-star property, but otherwise it is top notch. Most important for an all inclusive, the food was excellent. We ate almost every meal at the buffet and were not disappointed by the quality or selection. There were also not long lines at the bar. Our rooms were very nice and about the mid-point on the property, so it was convenient to both dining and the beach/pool. The bottle of wine we got as Expedia guests was gross, but that’s ok. The pool scene was fun with music and activities at one of the pools, which kept us entertained. The staff was friendly and engaging. We particularly loved Viri, who was awesome. Every night there was some kind of show (except one night was a guest talent show and we skipped that but we could hear the cheering so it must have been fun). The dancers for the shows were very talented. The experience had a cruise ship vibe to it without the overcrowding and need to do excursions. Between the buffet, fun activities (think pool volleyball and a foam party in the pool), swim up bar, and entertainment, it was lots of fun. Bonus points that there were no little kids running around.

Liked: the staff is great. Fairly quiet. Adult only. Food was very good. Disliked: The hotel caters to the privileged and ignores the rest. Not much benefit for the cost of being privileged. Had to call almost daily to get the fridge restocked with water. No lactose free deserts besides sorbet. Should be better.
