I typically stay at a Holiday Inn Express as the few extra dollars, complimentary breakfast, and consistent experience is what I value. This was a disappointing stay.
I've never stayed in a IHG property where the grime on the bathroom floor was visibly noticeable and the room smelled of baby powder vs that fresh cleaner smell most rooms have.
The breakfast bar had cereal, but the cooler where yogurt and milk usually are only had butter in it and I was there at 6:30 am. The traditional IHG breakfast of eggs, meat, and a potato did not have any potatoes either, nor any decaf coffee. The pancake machine was off so I assume it was not functional. I did not try to use it.
You could tell the table tops in the buffet area were cleaned, but it was if they used a dirty rag as one could see the smears of dirty water unlike that usual spotless shine.
The building itself looked modern and not run-down, and the bedding looked clean, but their cleaning staff who does the physical wiping and scrubbing is very subpar below typical IHG standards at this property.
I wish I had given the Four Points by Sheraton that is next door (and looks just as modern on the outside) a chance as it was $2 less per night.
