Great location near Rockefeller center. Room was basic but enough space for one person and clean. No fridge, coffee, or microwave in room. The room I was in was between the two elevators, so I can hear people coming in and out. My laptop blocked the hotel WiFi for security reasons, so keep that in mind if you want to work from the hotel.

Great location and very affordable. Staff were so friendly and kind, especially Matthew at the front desk. They stored my luggage before and after checkout for free. Room was very clean and a decent size. Private bathroom was clean. Bed was comfortable.

Furniture was dated. Room heated by a radiator without any thermostat control so it was hot. Heating in bathroom via a pipe that made loud noises regularly through the night. It was clean in a good location and checkin was fast and easy but not sure I’d book again.

We had a wonderful stay here and would definitely stay again. This is a bare-bones hotel, so don't expect frills or amenities, but it was extremely convenient, safe, quiet, and perfectly comfortable for a three-day stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean, if a bit shabby (chipped paint, non-working shades, cheap area rugs, etc.). We loved the historic and charming lobby and stairwells and wish that they kept the historic details throughout the rooms and rest of the hotel (room and bathroom flooring are sadly modern and out-of-place). Fantastic location between Grand Central and Times Square.

I booked 2 rooms one standard and one superior. The first night was a standard then the remaining few days I moved into a superior room. Hotel St. James were so accommodating to me. They allowed me to leave my bags and check out a little later. I came back mid day to check into my new room and I found out that they had my new room key ready and they moved my bags and stuff into my new room. The price was affordable and the location was great. Once I checked out I was able to store my bag there until I was ready to depart NYC. Thank you.
