La verdad todos los empleados son súper nefastos tratan horrible a todos, nunca sonríen y nunca tienen disposición de ayuda, el de la recepción nefastisimo los meseros hartos y cansados las del room service nefastas todos todos los 3 días que estuvimos ahí no tuvimos ningún trato amable y eso que hemos Ido muchas veces a ese hotel y está en decadencia sus instalaciones no están tan mal pero su servicio es pésimo

We had a wonderful stay at Barcelo Maya Colonial. Great family vacation! Our 4 and 6 year old kids had a blast at the water parks, pools, and ocean! Highly recommend for a family vacation, food was great, the shows were very entertaining, and the Colonial is centrally located to access all the hotels and attractions. We hope to plan another trip there in the future!

This resort was a great place for kids. Lots of tide pools and a pier to look at animals. We loved the many pools and food. My kids enjoyed the kids club where they had activities and crafts.

1. We did not eat anywhere else besides the resort for 5 days. My son was vomiting and sick for one entire day. When I got on my flight back home, I also started getting sick and had to take an ambulance off the plane and spent the weekend in the ER. 2. We arrived and wanted to make reservations at the restaurants for dinner for our 5 day vacation. They were all booked except for 10pm. Way too late for children, so we had to eat at the buffet the rest of the week. 3. This is really a 1.5 star resort. Everything is lowest possible quality (toilet paper, old furniture, towels, food, drinks, etc). Totally fine with a poor quality resort, but I spent money on an advertised 4 star resort. This is the lowest end Barcelo resort and it's unable to access the better adjacent resorts. 4. Besides the pool and beach amenities, everything else is additional and not 'all-inclusive'. 5. The staff doesn't often wear any gloves when touching the food in the buffet (see sick family above). 6. When we tried to resolved our challenges with the hotel management, they only had a 'sorry' but told us that we could earn some discounts by attending a 'session' (aka timeshare) presentation. The staff must be really incentivized by getting visitors to attend because this was the resolution every time we tried to solve our issues. I rarely give negative reviews, but I wish I had read this one before I paid for this regrettable trip. Good luck!

The staff was very nice. Everything was clean and beautiful. The spa was the best experience I’ve ever had at a spa. The buffets were delicious. It was difficult to make reservations at the restaurants and when we arrived, we could barely get into any of them. This should be an option to book before arrival or through an app.

We had an amazing family vacation. This is our seventh time staying in the Riviera Maya on many different properties and this vacation was by far for the best. This property has so many great things for whatever you wanna do during your vacation. Great location for excursions- no long travel time. I will say the rooms are very dated though, and the air conditioning was moldy and fan made noise but other than that it was a fabulous trip and will come back. If room esthetics are important to u than this may not be your resort. The beach and pools were amazing! Friendly staff. Food was great! I was nervous about the food but really enjoyed buffets and restaurants! Bonus that There are cenotes right across the street which are incredible . Definitely would recommend this resort!

Only issue was small items went missing from our room and our families room until we complained at the desk and left the do not disturb sign out. This is the reason for 3 stars on the staff even though it was likely one employee out of hundreds. The staff was otherwise extremely helpful and kind! Property is beautiful and massive and the food was delicious. Make sure to reserve your dinners upon check in as they book up quickly!

Personally did not like seeing the captive dolphins in the small pools. Let's stop doing this to exploit money at the dolphins expense as I heard 1 had just died recently from jumping & hitting the wall. sad for sure. You are better than this Barcelo. Your properties are excellent, staff is great, good food.

Fantastic experience overall. Food was descent and staff was great with everything. We loved how big the resort was so we really could experience a variety of amenities, many different restaurants, all the pools, never had issues with seating/ loungers.
