Very nice stay

very accommodating, allowed us to leave our luggage in their storage room before check in. This is student dorms that are available for guests to use in the summer. Nice, clean, quiet and well located by the ponds and within easy walking of Harpa/Old harbor. Bus stop locate within 1 minute walk of front door of the hostel. For those who might have an interest in such things, there is a beautiful old cemetery out past the dorms. If available, I'd stay at the student hostel next time I'm in Reykjavik. Front desk folks were very helpful and friendly.

I arrived in the morning before check in time and was able to leave my luggage in storage. The kitchen was available and there is a nice lounge area to wait. The woman working at reception was very friendly and helpful. The shared bathrooms were fairly clean and no wait for showers in the evening. The only downside I would mention is the noise. The room doors would slam quite loudly throughout the night (when people went to use the bathroom) and I could hear people walking around on the floor above. (I stayed in a room on the first floor.) This is not a party hostel. There were guests of all ages and everyone seemed respectful.

The Perfect Location

Very nice and basic rooms. I had a private bathroom in the new building. Basic features, but all I needed. The view in the rooms facing east (mine was no. 130) is exceptional! The communal kitchen is well stocked and large. The recycling bins could use some labels, though. People were just throwing trash this way and that. The location is absolutely perfect. Just far enough from downtown to be quiet but easily walkable.

I enjoyed my stay at the Student Hostel. With a shared kitchen it's of course always a bit hit and miss, some people are tidy, others leave it for the next one to tidy after them.... The only thing I would criticise is the cleanliness of my bathroom. The floor and even the wall in the shower were covered in thick, black, medium length hair! That's a bit disgusting, right? Other than that, everything was fine. And I slept very well.

Hyvä hostelli, ihanteellinen sijainti 7-10 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä - BSI (linja-autoasema, josta melkein kaikki lennot). Ja aivan hostellin vieressä on joukkoliikenteen pysäkki. Huoneet ovat melko siistejä, ainoa ongelma on lattia. Siksi suosittelen tossujen käyttöä. Henkilökunta on ystävällistä ja valmis auttamaan kaikessa. Yksin / kaverin tai parin kanssa matkustamiseen (jos hostellissa on parivuoteet, tietysti). Siellä on keittiö, siinä on kaikki mitä tarvitset. It's a very small room, but Iceland is expensive and this is a great deal for the price. The bathroom on our floor was clean and provided shampoo and soap. It's a 10-minute walk from old town city central, which is fabulous. Extremely safe area. The front desk staff were kind, friendly, and super helpful. There is a laundry room in the building (they give you free laundry detergent and let you use the machines for free -- literally, I'm not kidding), and they have lockers you can rent for very cheap to hold your valuables. Parking is free and close by (it's part of a university campus, and the overflow lot is a 3-minute walk). Overall, a very terrific and affordable option.

Very simple room with shared bathroom, dated but clean. Expensive for what it offers, like most accommodation in Reykjavik. Checkin/checkout was efficient but the least friendly I experienced in Iceland. It was fine for me for 1 night and I did discover a fantastic bakery for breakfast a couple of blocks west of the university, near a swimming pool.
