A nice hotel in a beautiful old building, which suffers a bit from an attractive extension from the last century.

The most stunning building. Rooms are a bit tired as are the halls etc, but it was very clean. Very efficient and friendly check in. The food in the bar was excellent.

Stay was pleasant reception man was friendly was a bit disappointed I didn’t get a bath in my en suite when I asked at reception lady on the computer was a bit annoyed she said I’ve already done the schedule but the room they showed me was on the list for renovation so stuck with the original room shower pressure was poor and there where definitely pigeons nesting in the roof space in the hall outside my room number 60 the breakfast was very nice and lots of variety over all a nice stay and listening to st Mary’s church bells Sunday morning was a lovely experience

The room had recently been refurbished, so bed and bathroom were both very new and inside the room was clean and fresh. I have stayed here before and, despite there now being new bathroom fittings, the water pressure is so low that it is difficult to have a shower. Although Thames Water are responsible for the mains pressure, the hotel should consider addressing this issue (pups or header tank). The corridors connecting to the main hotel building and breakfast room are tired, but I assume these are part of an ongoing refurbishment. Reasonable price for the quality of room and breakfast.

A lovely hotel full of character. Our room was clean, had a new bathroom and overlooked the beautiful garden too which was a bonus. Breakfast was a perfect spread of cooked food and continental. Staff were all very friendly.
Location is perfect, right in the town centre and an added bonus of free parking!
Loved my stay.

Great location, close to all amenities. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby.
Many other interesting places only a small drive away.
Hotel itself is nearly 400 years old, the whole building has plenty of interesting features.
Room was large, clean and very comfortable overlookingthe lovely gardens. Tea, coffe and biscuits were provided.

The hotel is a little dated and clearly needs more work doing. I waited a long time for someone to come to the reception desk for check in and felt the service could have been a lot better.

We were disappointed. We had to change bedrooms as the bathroom towel rail was stuck ON, and it was hot weather. The new room was a suite, but shabby. The taps in the bathroom had black dirt at the base, which I had to clean off. The carpet was stained. The Bathroom stank of cigarette smoke.
