Hickstead hotel

Hotel was very clean with really good staff . Hotel could do with a makeover but it’s still in pretty good shape. There was a problem with the evening meal as our food was served burnt, it was sent back and replaced with food that wasn’t overcooked. The waiter was amazing as this was not his fault but the chefs. Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel

Poor mattress and unclean room

The worst mattress I have slept on in years, I can forgive the hotel being a bit shabby and the room not cleaned properly, but that was the worst, creaking and rock hard. However the food is excellent would defo eat again in the restaurant just wouldn’t stay they night.

This hotel is supposed to have a restaurant however, on arrival i was told that it "wasn't open this evening unfortunately ". When i came down to breakfast the next morning ttey said thru weren't able to offer a cooked breakfast today but that i could gave tea or coffee......really??? At least i now now know to avoid this shambolic fawlty towers. If there is a manager they need to give him / her the boot

Hotel needs renovation inside and out.

Friendly helpful staff and excellent well cooked hot food in the evening. Excellent large car park. Unfortunately very small full English breakfast was awful. Everything except sausage was very over cooked, some items actually burnt. Each morning something was missing. Juices was tasteless. Dinning room chairs was very stained in need of a good clean. Our room was a good size but needed updating and decorating. The bathroom had a musty smell with mouldy grouting. The outside grounds is disappointingly unkempt. Condition nothing like this picture above.

Fine for a place to sleep

Clean and comfortable although rooms hot at night. Staff friendly and helpful Handy for Hickstead show ground. Breakfast good value for money. I would say ready for a good refurbishment.

Overall stay was okay

Check in and out was quick & easy. The carpet in the room had marks/stains, but everywhere else was clean. Provided body wash and a good amount of towels. Room was roasting! There is no aircon, just a small desk fan and the window doesnt open much due to safety reasons. Breakfast - friday food was made to order, lovely lady. Unfortunately, bacon was tough which seemed like it was under a heated lamp for hours and I found a black hair in my coffee (I did check the mug before use and I have blonde hair). Which you can see in the photos attached. Saturday - breakfast was set up as a buffet, seemed somewhat better, but the scrambled eggs random black chunks? (didnt have my phone to take a photo). Overall stay was okay.

Pleasant place in a convenient location. It is possibly a bit tired now, but the parking is good and spacious, the restaurant food was of reasonable enough quality, prices are not extortionate. I would go there again

Average stay, hotel looks tired.

Stayed as part of a business trip as usual hotel was full. Hotel a bit tired and of average quality. Rooms need redecoration as does the hotel itself but perfectly clean and adequate for a no frills stopover. Breakfast was nice however.
