Friendly service in historic hotel

This is an older, historic hotel located in downtown Monte Vista in SE Colorado. Be aware that the hotel has only been partially remodeled. My particular room was comfortable enough, but not very convenient. For instance, the bathroom sink was really too small for shaving in the morning. Front staff was friendly and provided good recommendations for restaurants, of which there are only a couple of choices. Beware of the quirky elevator... it can be a handful especially if you have more than one piece of luggage.

Very nice, restored old hotel with lots of charm

Easy check-in and check-out. Breakfast was good and there was plenty of food. Very nice people running and working in the hotel. Excellent recommendations for supper. Clean and quiet rooms. For this place for being a historical building it was run down, had the potential to be really nice, but it was not being kept up. Their rooms were small. The ac was a standalone unit blowing outside curtains didn't even close, so you you had to clip the blind shut and the shower was pitiful and the bathroom sink was extremely small.

I actually really enjoyed our stay here. There are definitely some quirks, but what a cool hotel. Check-in was good. The staff actually walked me to the elevator to show it to me. It is old, but works fine. There are so many cool spaces to hang out from the lobby, to the old bar, the cafeteria, even every floor has an area with chairs and tables. Our room was small but renovated. The curtains were so high it was tough to open and close them and the sink was rather tiny, but it was quite comfortable and I would definitely stay again.

It's a very old Hotel. Historic. I enjoyed my stay. It was quiet and I slept well. My only complaint would be the size of the rooms. They are quite small, but as stated this is an old building. The Continental breakfast was o.k., not great, but then again, what Continental breakfasts are? I've had better but I have also had worse.
