Confused about 5 star reviews
The person at front desk check in was not friendly in any way. It seemed like she was bothered by us showing up. We got up to the room (Alice) around 4-5pm on a ~70 degree day and it was 83F in the room. The thermostat was on “heat” for some reason. We immediately turned it to off, which was the only other option. Then we opened the window as wide as it goes and the fan as high as it goes. I think this room gets a lot of afternoon sun which didn’t help, but there is no AC that guest can control, or possibly at all. I can’t imagine staying in that room on a warmer day. Hotels.com sent me a message asking how check in went so I responded with the above info. At 10pm as we’re trying to fall asleep, we get an angry call from the hotel saying “don’t go complaining to Expedia if you didn’t even call here first.” The man was aggressive. They wanted to come into the room to see how hot it was and possibly fix it, but with no AC I don’t know how that would be possible. We declined to have them come inside since we were in bed. It took a solid 5 min at least to get off the phone before the man hung up. That was unsettling and definitely ruined our impression of the hotel.
Pros was super walkable, and even though email made it seem that we’d pay our own parking, they did cover the length of the stay.
Cons: hot rooms with no AC, rude staff, pricy for the condition of the building and no amenities.
Would not return.
