It was okay. There was a hole in the wall and obvious water damage in the downstairs corner handicap accessible room (thats just where we were put. I’m not disabled and cant speak on that ease). The hotel is alright. The room has a tv with cable channels, typical floating nightstand/platform bed setup, a fridge, and a sitting area. It was a big bed compared to what Ive stayed in before (king vs the standard queen). Floors and bathroom were a little dirty but not awful.
The neighborhood is meh. Everywhere has bars on windows surrounding the hotel (the corner store is particularly interesting in how even the cash register is a separate confined space from the cashier) and the guy at the front desk is behind a security window you slide money and id in. The guy at the front desk seemed rude, at first, but was professional and nice enough.
I dont know what the normal dynamic is for who stays there, but the 4 people we saw outside their rooms looked at us crazy for being there haha (i am white, bf is asian to clarify). We went to a concert and coming back late, one guy upstairs was outside smoking the ‘less boring type’ of cigarettes ;) and just watched us which was odd.
We got our cash security deposit back with no hassle ($100 cash or card). I was a little worried at first because we didnt get a cash receipt, but it was smooth when we checked out.
Was it safeish and okay enough, condition wise? Sure. Would I stay there again or recommend it for a solo woman traveler? No
