This was our first visit to Great Wolf Lodge and we really weren’t impressed. We took my 11-year-old son and most of the activities included with your stay are geared toward young kids. Anything that would be more appropriate for older kids costs money. We paid for him to purchase a wand so he could do the quests around the hotel, but it stopped working as soon as we got home.
We arrived at 4pm and our room wasn’t ready. We had to wait with all of our luggage for over 45 minutes past check-in to get into our rooms. We were given breakfast vouchers which was nice, however breakfast is no better than any other hotel breakfast we’ve had. The food wasn’t warm at all.
Our room was clean but had an overpowering smell of mildew. The rooms are a bit rundown and had peeling paint on the walls. At least 2 of the elevators were broken during our 2-night stay.
The indoor water park was very clean and had plenty of seating for families however it is so hot, humid, and chlorinated that it’s difficult to breathe especially if you’re not actively in the water. We did appreciate the 21 and over hot tub. The water park is only open from 10-8 every day which was a bummer, especially on our first night when they were behind on letting us into our room.
Decent hotel, but really not worth the money unless you have extra to spend on the other activities. They definitely nickel and dime you for everything, including $19 per day for parking!
