Had a great day!

We had a great stay at Best Western on the River. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub! Our room was clean and had everything we needed. We wish the bed was a bit softer but managed to sleep anyway. It was a very convenient location to the Mark Twain boyhood home and museum.

There was some damages to the dresser in our room and the shower head sprayed everywhere soaking the floor. The room at the side our heads laid at was an employee only closet/room and whatever was in there made a very, very loud banging noise through out the night. As well as the noise echoing from guests that came in late. It made for a very sleepless night. But the employees were kind, pool was amazing. Wasn't really cold. And breakfast was pretty good as well.

Excellent stop.

Stay here as a rest point on long drive trips. Easy location, accommodations are great. Love the heated pool and hot tub. Refreshing. Morning breakfast is fabulous. Attendant is helpful, pleasant and efficient. Good restaurants in easy walking distance. Mark Twain shops add to charm.

Be careful when you book/pay with a 3rd party sit.

I was charged twice. I told the employee and he said it was a problem for hotel.com and when your employees tried calling him multiple times he didn’t answer so I had to stress out over 24 hours whether I would be out $144! I paid online he should have seen my room was paid for instead of charging my card again! The manager issued a refund but I still have to wait a few days for it. I doubt I stay at that hotel again which is sad because that’s usually our go to when we go to Hannibal.

Clean, well maintained motel in a great location. Only problems I had are the hard bed and, because of the location of the open pool, there is a strong chlorine smell everywhere. Good breakfast.

This is an older hotel and there are things that could be updated. Example, the wood was peeling off the bathroom door. The staff were pleasant, breakfast was good. There is a cute diner across the street that is worth checking out. This hotel is one block from Mark Twains boyhood home.Overall not a bad stay, just had higher expectations for a Best Western.

3 stars given; could had been 5. Staff, common areas (business area, indoor pool, gym), breakfast, and the location to site seeing were all terrific. However - the hotel was undergoing renovations on the 3rd floor during my Jan 2025 stay it was on the 3rd floor. I'm not sure if it contributed to my room problem, but - my room (Rm# 217) stayed hot and my thermostat did not work when adjusted. I'm assuming rooms above, below, and next to mine must have had the heat up... despite me being in a corner room of the building. When I turned the thermostat down to any temperature below 71 degrees in an attempt to stop the sauna-like heat, the wall between the bathroom and my bed shook violently loud and even made the bed vibrate. There was no sleep in this condition. On the second night I noticed I could open 1 of the 2 windows to let the 5 degree cold inside to help. But that was a pain to open/close and repeat throughout the night. There was no medium to cracking the window. It was either too cold or too hot in the room. Also, the furniture door that opens to the hidden refrigerator is barely hanging on and would not stay in a closed position. There was no space between that hanging door and the bed to walk around it. For $110 a night plus fees/taxes, I expect better. I let the clerk know... I hope they fix the problem. I really like Best Westerns - this one needs to fix some things.
