The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from the vaporetto stop Santa Maria del Giglio and very close to St. Mark’s Square as well as many of the main attractions. It’s also tucked away enough to feel calm and charming, which made it easy to reach everything on foot without being right in the middle of the crowds.
Our room was quite small, but nicely decorated in a classic Venetian style. The hotel itself is not the most modern, but that actually added to its charm – it felt authentic and very much in tune with the city’s atmosphere. The overall ambiance was warm and traditional, which we appreciated.
Unfortunately, the service left us disappointed. The evening before our departure we informed the reception that we would need to leave before 7:00 in the morning. The staff member noted this, but on the next day we were only told then that breakfast would not be available until 7:30. Since breakfast had been included in the price, this was frustrating, and there was no alternative offered – not even something simple prepared in advance – and no apology either. It left us with the impression that the staff could have been more attentive and considerate.
Overall, the location and style of the hotel were lovely, and the stay itself was pleasant. However, the lack of service regarding our early departure was a real disappointment, especially as it would have been easy to handle differently.
