I asked to check-in upon arrival around 1pm. I was told check-in was 3 pm, though my room could be available sooner. Check-in staff spoke minimal English and were a bit surly. They allowed me to leave my luggage with the concierge, so I left to go shopping coming back after 2:30. The room was still unavailable, so I changed into my bathing suit in the hopes of having some pool time. Unfortunately, the pool was packed and not a single lounge chair was available. Some people had put their towels and personal effects on the loungers and never used them. The pools were packed with screaming children and there wasn’t even a place for me to leave my things by the pool while I went for a dip. Plus the water was looking a little murky. I checked several more time on my room but it wasn’t available until after 4 pm. I was excited to finally get to my room but my heart sank when I saw it. It was really shabby accommodations. All the furnishings were really dated, old and warn. Though it had been superficially cleaned there was dirt, dust and hairs all over the floors and some surfaces. On top of that, the room stank. When I had a shower, the drain didn’t function well and I quickly found myself standing in an inch or two of water. In the morning when I checked out they asked me for the remote control for the air conditioner! Apparently I was supposed to bring that back to the front desk but no one had asked me to. Worst hotel experience in a long time.
