I was there for a nearby two-day convention. The hotel where the convention was at didn't have any rooms available. I knew I was going to have full days so I was looking for a place to stay that was convenient, comfortable, and clean. No amenities, just a place to sleep.
When I walked in, basically to dump my things and go meet the group at a shuttle to go to a Rockies game, I saw a table and 2 chairs, I thought it was nice. Then I looked at the bed to throw my suitcase on it. The bedspread had several gross looking stains on it. I didn't look any further. That was all I needed to see.
I loaded my things into the car and went to the front desk. I told them about the stains and said I would be willing to look at another room. The clerk said they could get me clean sheets. I said I wouldn't feel comfortable in that room. She said all she could do is change the sheets.
Meanwhile, I kept getting messages about the shuttle leaving. I ended up missing the shuttle and the game because I had to find a room.
I wasn't looking for much. I just wanted a clean place to sleep after a long day. When I saw the stains on the bedspread I wasn't going to put my suitcase on it. I also wasn't going to come back after the game to a closed office and a dirty bed. If they showed me a clean room I would have stayed. That's all I was looking for. Nothing fancy.
