Overall hotel was clean, tidy.
Staff friendly and very helpful.
On arrival the initial room allocated was NOT as expected and NOT five star rating.
We had upgraded the room prior to our stay.
However, the room was fitted out for persons with limited mobility/disability.
Also there was damage to walls, bed frame and carpet was marked, on initially entering the room there was an unpleasant smell.
I did complain immediately was told it was a superior double room which, I disagreed with and showed the staff photos of a superior double on their website and hotel.com.
On initially booking, months before, if informed no other room available we would have sort an alternative hotel.
Staff agreed to check out room availability the next morning, thankfully we changed rooms the next day.
The second room allocated was smaller but cleaner, tidier and a lot more pleasant.
No goodwill gesture offered for initial disappointment
If arriving by train it is very difficult to get a taxi, we eventually contacted the hotel to arrange transport, which they did, sending a private taxi which cost 15 euros.
On leaving the hotel we shared a taxi with another family to train station believing fare would be split, this was not the case we were charged 15 euros and my understanding was the other family’s fare was charged to their room ??
It would be a good idea if hotel had its own shuttle bus even at a charge to the guest.
Location of hotel excellent
Area very clean and safe.
