we spent four nights in the AU Hotel Florence.
the assets are the really nice, clean and modern rooms and the apparently friendly but somehow strange staff...
the hotel is perfectly located in the old city centre of F and within a few minutes' walk you are literally everywhere.
which leads me to things i did not expect and am not willing to tolerate booking a **** hotel:
having to spend quite an amount of money one expects something totally different concerning breakfast and the way of having it-
the breakfast "area" is actually the same as the entrance area of the hotel, which means that guests who are checking in and out with loads of luggage have to squeeze through all those who are having a kind of breakfast at tiny tables on tiny chairs... but the real no-go is the quality of the food you are presented-
one knows of the habits of italians and the way they have their first meal in the morning- BUT the tourists aren't italian, they want to start into a busy and strenous day and therefore expect a proper breakfast- the coffee was good, the rest was pure agony- to us it seemed that the only aim was to save money- no REAL fruit or vegetable at all, pieces of bread one only knows from visiting the egyptian gallery of the british museum and so on and so forth...
the conclusio being that if one just cherishes the location one is well booked into the AU hotel, if one wants something more, liking to feel home from home, another hotel would definitely be more appropriate.
