Let’s be honest…

Even though we received an email few weeks before our stay that the area was noisy, you should tell it right away when we book so we can better plan for an alternative. Also our room was facing the bar terrace and the wall was vibrating, so it weak to say it’s noisy, it is terrible and ear plug are not of any help. You should be even more transparent and reduce your price because it’s expensive for just few jours of sleep.

Overall very good experience!

Amazing experience at Cameo! The room was very clean and came with everything you would need for a longer stay (we were only there a night). Everything was contactless and they send you codes for your room and the front entrance during your check in. Many food options and lots of night life around. Your reservation gets you access to a few different patios and vIP access. You also have access to wifi and the hotels Netflix! Bed was very comfy aswell. My only complaint would be that because you’re so close to the bars/clubs you can hear the loud music in your room, so the sound proofing isn’t really the best, but they do provide ear plugs on your bedside table. Overall very good experience!

Extremely loud music beside us until 2am

We stayed at Cameo Hotel from a Friday to Sunday (2 nights in July). Both nights had extremely loud music until 2 am from directly outside our bedroom window. We could look down at a night club on a rooftop patio. My earplugs didn't even prevent to bass from traveling through my body. It was absolutely awful. There is no preparing for the loudness you are about to experience if you stay at this hotel on a weekend. Added to this... the accomodation has some sketchy building workmanship (IE: loose faucets, shower doesn't drain, hard bed, poor lighting mounted on the wall).

There is no parking associated with the hotel. However there are multiple lots within a few minutes walk. The air conditioning unit is portable and has a noise level equivalent to a window unit. Nicely equipped unit. Clean and comfy. TV is set up with Roku. Hotel is ideally located. Close to sights and restaurants.

Horrible place - you can’t even get into the building because their door lock is broken and they refuse to fix it. So you have to break in every time. No security. You can’t get any assistance from the hotel. Loud music blasting from the nightclub right beside until 2 am. Will never stay here again. The cleaners are great though!

Broken door lock and the hotel will not fix it

This hotel does not even pass a basic standard - you can’t even get into the hotel. The main door code lock does not work. We booked multiple suites amongst our group of friends and tried several different codes - one worked after numerous tries. We tried to contact the hotel and they were non-responsive. We booked this hotel for two segments of our trip and the hotel still did not fix the door after being informed. It looks like many people have complained about this issue online. Zero security at this hotel as it is easy to bypass the main door lock with a card. It is also very loud and located beside a nightclub which blasts music until 2 am. Stay elsewhere!

Terribly loud.

The room itself was super nice, clean, comfy bed and really nice kitchen setup. The club right outside de window was so extremely loud until 2am. Thursday I was able to get some sleep with ear plugs and a white noise machine beside my head, but friday night was even louder and I could still hear the music clearly with my earplugs/white noise. The walls are thin as well, you can hear everything. I found that when we first came in the room it smelled like cigarette smoke, but then subsided after the first night. For the price, Its not worth it. I would stay at Hotel next time.

Great location!

We had an amazing stay in Halifax. The Cameo hotel is in a great location, close to everything. The suite is modern and clean and has everything you need. The only downfall that may affect some people is the hotel backs onto Argyle St and The Pint bar is basically connected to the back of the hotel so you will hear the thumping of the music till 2am or so. This didn’t affect my sleep and the hotel provides ear plugs beside the bed which was nice. I feel this is the price you pay for being right downtown so we were ok with this. Also, there is no parking available able by the hotel, we parked in the parkade down the road which only came to $45 for 2 days and 2 nights of parking. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Cameo and would recommend.

Will stay here again

Location was perfect for the purpose of our trip. Room didnt just look clean, it felt clean. Just remember theres no front desk or any attendants, watch your emails for check in info and do echeck in a day in advance to get your door codes. 16:00 check in is a little late but they have luggage storage you can take advantage of so you can drop your stuff off and enjoy downtown Halifax. They have no parking but there is a garage just down around the corner.

Nice room with unpleasant surprises

The room was really clean and equipped with everything you need. The room I stayed at was a bit drak with a little window, but that was the only one available and the room rate was reasonable for that. The check in was a mess, though. Hotels.com doesn't share the reservation number (?) in the confirmation details (it is different from the itinerary number) and I struggle for a while to retrieve it as I could connect with the actual agent only after going through all the frustrating AI process that tried to block me from going to that stage. And there was another big setback of the room I stayed: the pub next door blared out loud club music from 10pm to 2am, solid. I thought I was in the club myself and you can't sleep with that! I had to realize the earplugs provided in the room wasn't a nice add-on but a must for survival. Thank god it didn't last on Monday and Tuesday nights.

Noisy bar impeding sleep.

Suite 604 overlooked a backyard with an open air noisy bar that made sleep impossible until after 2 AM even with earplugs provided.

Big spacious suite-comfortable bed. The check in instructions were very clear, and they even offered a luggage room so we could drop off our luggage prior to check in. It’s perfect except the noise-the walls seem quite thick-we heard nothing from our neighbors, but the windows allowed so much street noise. We were there on an early summer night and everyone was out partying. I’ll bet on a normal night it’s just fine. The air conditioner is loud, but helped drown out the noise. Use this hotel for sure-but bring ear plugs just in case.
