Stayed in a single room for four nights, and I will start by saying that the staff was wonderful. Kind, attentive, and really interested in making sure your experience in the city is nice. That said, this website implies a lot more in the way of quality of facilities than is actually offered. It’s clear they’ve renovated downstairs, and access to a restaurant on-site is really nice. The rooms themselves (at least mine) are tiny, but it IS the city and you’re right in Times Square. My issue was the quality of the furniture, really. They advertise luxury, plush bedding and mattresses, but it felt like I was sleeping in a dorm room. In fact, the bed frames are so cheap they were actively replacing one next door to my room the day I arrived because it had snapped. They’re a very cheap metal with a very thin mattress. Also, I did not see the hair dryer that was advertised, and I requested a room with a fridge (was willing to pay) before I went, but did not receive one. The ventilation in my room in particular was bad, and the smells from the on site restaurant crept in the entire time the kitchen was open. Fine, I guess, if you’re happy walking around the city smelling like bacon.
All in all, you’re getting what you’re paying for here: a subpar facility in midtown near all the action. The staff makes up for it a bit, and the price is decent. Still, I’d probably just look for something a few blocks south that would be a bit nicer.
