I had a wonderful stay! The rooms were spotlessly clean and really comfortable. The location is perfect — there’s a supermarket just a short walk away, which was super convenient. What really stood out to me were the owners. It’s a family-run place and you can genuinely feel how much they care about their guests. They were incredibly kind and welcoming. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and well-located stay!

Fantastic place to stay

So suprised when i opened the door, what a lovely place to stay!! So clean and fresh, an absolute credit to the owners and their family/staff Large shower, kitchenette with microwave, fridge. Everything you need. A family run business, so nice to see, i hope it goes really well for them. Will definately stay again.

Lovely comfortable room in a beautiful building. It appears to be newly renovated with a good sized double shower which was amazing! Everything that you need was supplied, even much needed earplugs on the bedside cabinets! I will definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it!

Excellent stay! Stylish and comfortable accommodation, recently refurbished to an exquisite standard. Kitchenette adds to the convenience. Easy for check-in and departure with great comms from the team. Great parking and good location, though Dalton has limited eating places of an evening. Defo be back.

Clean, comfortable, stylish, plenty of sockets (plug, usb, usb-c) in convenient places. Tea/coffee amenities, mini fridge and storage if you wanted to unpack. Clean, spacious bathroom with refillable soaps. Easy check in/check out instructions. Quiet location, parking.

Superb find

What a wonderful find in south Cumbria. We booked without any great expectation but Chequers Lodge was FABULOUS! This was a modern Lodge-based accommodation and a well proportioned room with modern walk-in shower in a sizable bathroom, large King bed, superb TV (with Netflix available) and tea, coffee, hot chocolate options. What was great was it was self-access with a secure Lock containing the key - we arrived 10pm and found a large parking area, got the key from the lock and made our way to our great room. Dalton was sizable but also quaint. We ate in Rhina's Thai Kitchen - fabulous food and BYOB - a LARGE Co-Op just 3 mins walk from the restaurant had an extensive choice of drinks! Met the owner Liz in the morning who gave some travel tips for our travel back to Edinburgh via lakes. WILL BE BACK and already passed on details to family and friends.

Comfortable, clean and well presented.

There is plenty of parking space, and it's easy to find the Lodge. All the expected room facilities are present: good decor, bed, towels and bathroom;, a warm and comfortable space. I couldn't dock a star, especially at the price we paid. Of course, there are things that could be improved! The kettle boiled just enough for the two very small mugs; our (own) teapot took 2 boilings to fill. It would be nice to have more than the bare minimum of cutlery so as not to have to wash forks after dinner in order to eat cheesecake for dessert - and neither breadknife nor scissors are provided, which poses challenges for microwave meals (and a toaster and even just one hob and a pan would be helpful). And the internal soundproofing is very poor - adjacent extractor fans, and passing motorbikes, didn't improve sleep. Thanks for the earplugs, but not everyone sleeps well with those. But as I sad, it's definitely a 5-star place.

Fairly nice place to stay. New rooms and good location. A modern tv. Unfortunately the room was super hot and the bed a bit too small for 2 adults. Woke up at 7am when someone blowdried her hair.

This a beautifully converted old schoolhouse, full of charm and crafted with genuine care. Meeting the owners revealed their passion for the place, with every detail thoughtfully considered and completed to a high standard. My room lacked natural light due to the original design and small window, but the interior lighting was more than adequate. While the immediate area has little character, it’s only a short drive to the heart of the Lakes and all its attractions. I’ll definitely return when exploring the South lakes.

Room disappointing., very clincal. Booked king room with kitchenette. There is no comfortable seating area. Shower room is good quality and modern. Bed is rock hard and uncomfortable. Kitchenette is lacking most basic items. Cheapest of plastic drinking + wine glasses?. Main door directly onto car park is positioned a couple of feet from the bed, the glass window in + above the door flood in light during the night which is very disturbing.
