This is a stunning property, with plenty to look at so allow enough of a stay to explore. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom also large with a lovely bath and plenty of hot water. Check in was slightly problematic as we had to fill in a form that was only in Spanish and so had no idea what we were signing. The girl on reception was lovely, but had no English either. We have a little Spanish.. but not enough. We use google translate for most things, but the form was quite long and in very small print. But once we had got over that hurdle the young lady showed us to our room. We were able to establish what time dinner and breakfast were, and what the wifi code is. None of this information was available in the room. We had aperatifs in the stylish bar area, served by the same young lady who was on reception, She was also helping in the restaurant later.There are some lovely areas laid for dining, in the old cellars and with a view of the courtyard, but the room they use for the restaurant is completely devois of character and lit only by overhead lighting. Like a conference space. The food was 'interesting'. We had the menu del dia for 18€ each, with wine and water on top. It was reasonable, but could have been executed to a higher standard as this is a 4* hotel. The 2 female waiting staff were pleasant, with one of them speaking good English. Breakfast was very good. It was buffet style and overseen by an English speaking waiter. We do con

Attention Arnaque !!!!

Nous avons chercher avec le gps, avec l'aide des habitants. Le seul bâtiment qui semblait correspondre à l'adresse était fermé. Je l'avais déjà écrit mais je n'ai reçu aucune réponse. C'est une arnaque!!! Il a fallut après plus d'une heure de recherche que l'on trouve un autre hôtel.

sehr abgelegen

wenn einer Ruhe und Einsamkeit sucht, dann ist das Hotel sicher nicht falsch. Bei 38 Grad war von einem Pool weit und breit nichts zu sehen. Die Anlagen um das Hotel sind total verwahrlost. Restaurant und Bar geschlossen.

Water not potable

When I arrived at the hotel I was told that the hotel's water was not safe for drinking or for bathing and that all hotel services were closed due to the water problem. The front page of hotel's web site displayed a message saying that the hotel was closed due to flooding of the Erbo river, and that the hotel hoped to reopen on May first.

MonestariO de Rueda

Not easy to find as it does not appear on my Sat Nav. However once you have reached Escatron you can pick up the signposts to the hotel. It is a quality 4* with large rooms and is set in an old monastery with extensive grounds. The hotel has been renovated to a high standard and we could not find any faults. We did not use the restaurant but had a snack in the bar. There are no other restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
