great stay for event
staff was exceptionally accommodating and nice. Hotel was a pleasant surprise off the beaten path but in close proximity to greatness. We went for hikes, shopped, ate amazing local fare and it was a quick cab ride to downtown.

Third time in this hotel
We are in 55+ category and came to Portland for couple days to have some fun there. This is our 3rd stay in Silver Cloud Hotel. The first one was about 10 years ago. The location is very good, you could walk to many great restaurants and boutiques on 23rd and 21st streets, Good breakfast and convenient parking - everything included for a decent price. The only con I could come with is that air-conditioning unit in our room was a little noisy.

nice getaway
We stayed here while visiting my son and his fiancée. It was a very convenient place to stay. It was comfortable and clean and had a good free breakfast. There were a lot of restaurants and shops nearby to walk to.

Great location
I travel to Portland for work and spend on average 25 days a year in the city. I've stayed at numerous hotels over the years and this one is hands down my top choice! Great location, friendly staff, close to the trails of Forest Park, and street cars that gives you access to the rest of the city.

Perfect location, not far from downtown
Don't be put off by it's isolated location on the map! There is a bus stop just outside the hotel's parking lot where 2 bus routes pass through can take you to the PDX streetcar, other transit centers or MAX line. Also walking distance to great eateries and shops in a cute neighborhood.
As most reviewers have mentioned it is right on the street corner and some of the rooms face the street. However, during sleeping hours the street is deserted so I had no problem with my 2nd floor room that was facing the street. The walls are thin where you can hear your upstairs and side neighbors. However, but the guests who stay here are mostly elderly retired couples and young families so I had no problem.
As far as amenities go. Don't expect luxury. It's not a large chain, fancy hotel but not a dumpy motel either! It's a perfect find! The room was your standard basic room but clean, big enough for 1-2 people, and good value for the price. I spent most of my day out and about exploring so this was just a good place to shower and crash. But it's the little things here that will make me come back for my next stay in Portland:
*Friendliness and helpfulness of the front desk staff who gave me a street map of the nearby eateries and a streetcar map & ticket.
*FREE breakfast! Good selection of pastries, cereal, fruit, eggs, waffles, etc.
*FREE wi-fi!

3.5 stars- for a nice place at a great price.
Great location in NW Portland, that provided a nice comfortable room at a great price. I have stayed across the street at another hotel, which was also about 3.4-4 stars, but this recent trip the Silver Cloud was $60 less per night for nearly the exact same experience.
I would gladly stay here again.

Great Hotel Stay!
Tucked away in a vibrant neighborhood, this is a great night's sleep! We stayed two nights and two days. The staff were helpful when we requested a map. The breakfast is excellent and well-staffed with courteous, helpful, smiling people.....which is especially welcome before I've had coffee!

Relaxation
I've stayed here twice in the last month and will continue to stay here when I travel to Portland for work. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is in the best place you can be in Portland. The rooms are always clean. Also, you can walk anywhere from here!

Weekend getaway
We had a very pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly from the time we checked in until we checked out. The hotel is located in an industrial area but it's not far from downtown and there's plenty of parking.

Great place to stay
The Silver Cloud is a great place to stay in NW Portland. It's really easy to find, right off the freeway, and returning to the freeway to go home was a snap too. The room was clean and comfortable, even though there was no easy chair, and I wasn't aware of street noise. Breakfast was generous and free; parking was also free. Public transportation is literally at the corner and goes everywhere. I was very impressed by the staff, who did everything they could to accommodate two road-weary and cold travelers. I would book again in a minute.

Close to 23rd, with fun restaurants, bars & shops.
Room was right off the highway (but not close enough that you can hear it). It was very easy to find. Parking was free. Check in was a breeze. Room was ready. Got settled in, found our king bed. Bathroom with toilet and shower, then a separate sink with coffee maker and blow drier. Then a comfortable bed facing a microwave and mini fridge (no minibar - which I liked) and TV. The picture on the TV was a little grainy, but eh, who cares. To the side there was a lounge recliner and desk. We ran both the Heater and A/c during our stay. The heater was really loud ( my one and only complaint), but the A/C was fine. Had a restful night sleep, then continental breakfast was simple, but adequate... scrambled eggs, sausages, fresh waffle maker, cereal, breads, scones, muffins, fresh fruit, coffee and a selection of tea (I did not eat all of this, just listing what was offered). Checkout was a breeze. We stayed 2 nights.
Would stay here again.

New Years in Portland
The hotel is located close to a freeway entrance so it is very easy to get around the city. The room was spotless. Unfortunately, we were not on the top floor and were kept awake and awakened by people above us walking heavily. Also, the doors to the rooms slam loudly so we heard that every time someone entered or exited rooms near us and that was often. We will not stay here again unless we can be put at the end of the hall on the top floor. If you do stay, make sure you take earplugs. You will need them.

Pleasant experience in every way. Convenient to shops and eateries on 23rd, and a short walk to the trolley stop on Marshall. We left the cars parked and used Portland's excellent public transit.

Good location, service and value for the money
The Sliver Cloud is located near the NW 23rd Ave neighborhood, one of the nicest areas in Portland. We enjoyed a quiet, comfortable stay, walking in the neighborhood and taking the streetcar downtown. The staff were attentive and professional. The complimentary breakfast included a variety of choices, both tasty and healthy. Just wish the fan didn't automatically hum into action each time the bathroom light is switched on. Overall a good place to stay.

Nice place
All was fine except for our room being near the elevator and the housecleaning supply room, the nise started a little earlier than I would have liked. We should have tried to get a room further away from them for the second night, otherwise all was fine. There was a car broken into in their parking garage our 2nd night, fortunately not ours.

Good motel in a great neighborhood
The motel itself was good but unexceptional. Room was large, comfortable and quite clean. Nice furnishings but not luxury. There was a good selection of food at breakfast, quality was okay but nothing special. Free onsite parking in a covered garage was much appreciated!
The real highlight of our stay was the motel's location on the edge of the trendy and vibrant Nob Hill District. There is a lot of fun night life within a short walk; good restaurants, bars and shops. When you first arrive at the hotel you might question the location since it is in an industria area, but the desk staff can give you a map of Nob Hill which will quickly lead you to the good stuff!
