Gute, etwas stadtauswärts gelegene Unterkunft

Das Oddfellow Arms war eine Unterkunft mit guter Lage nahe des Heaton Parks. Diesen hat man durch eine Busfahrt von ca. 20 min erreicht.Die Unterkunft liegt etwas außerhalb der Stadt Manchester. Durch eine gute Bus- und Bahnanbindung könnte man die Innenstadt aber gut erreichen. Die Unterkunft hat kontinentales Frühstück angeboten, welches aus Rührei, Toastbrot, Obst und Müsli bestand. Die Zimmer waren mit Doppelstockbetten ausgestattet. Die Betten waren Recht bequem. Mein größter Kritikpunkt an den Zimmern war ihre Unsauberkeit. Unter den Betten lagen einige verschiedene Dinge, wie leere Flaschen oder alte Pizzaschachteln rum. Auch größere Taschen waren vereinzelt unter dem Bett zu finden, die vermutlich den Besitzer gehörten. Alles in allem war die Unterkunft für den angebotenen Preis in Ordnung. Beim nächsten Mal würde ich mir vermutlich trotzdem etwas suchen, was sich mehr in Stadtnähe befindet.

Boa mas pode melhorar

O quarto cujo chão era carpete não possuía ventilador. Sendo assim, além do calor, a janela ficava obrigatoriamente aberta para a ventilação. Ocorre que o quarto era voltado para rua. A janela estando aberta não havia barreira para o barulho feito pelos carros, caminhões etc.

Reasonably priced but in need of an update

The owner/managerbwas super friendly ane chatty and very helpful with reccomendations for food places and getting around. However: Its in a very busy, loud pub, that has karaoke nights on a Saturday night (bring headphones) The places is is dyer need of an upgrade. Decour is peeling, damp in places and toilet room smelled strongly of urine! Was in a bunk room and fellow travellers had no respect for others (loud, turning lights on, swearing etc). Due to the heatwave (and the previously mentioned other guests) it was unbearable and didn't sleep a wink! Fans in the room would have been beneficial. That being said....beds were super comfy, reasonably priced and located very close to the M60!

Reasonable stay for a quick overnight work stopover, the bed was quite low compared with what I'm used to but wasn’t uncomfortable... En-suite is a hand basin only main bathroom's and toilets at each end of accommodation block. Owner (Peter) is attentive and welcoming. Coded doors give a reassuring secure area for when you're out of the room.

Fantastic weekend, couldn’t have asked for more. Staff were fantastic and the owner/landlord Peter was so welcoming, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. One the best weekends we have had away this year. Would definitely go again.

the kindness and hospitality of Peter knows absolutely no bounds. he makes you feel immediately at home and at ease. the property is well taken care of, the beds are comfortable and despite being located above a pub, i still had a great sleep. clean bathrooms, one of the nicest showers known to man and absolutely mind blowing breakfast spread. price/quality ratio doesn’t even compare, it’s simply too good to be true. thank you, peter, for everything you do! i can’t wait to come back again.

Great value for money. However, there was a noticeable smoke smell as soon as we walked in, which was to be expected given that it’s a pub hotel. Sadly we couldn’t stay for breakfast but that would be one for next time.

Unforgettable.

I Will start off by saying that the owner Peter is friendly and accommodating. The place is not far from the train station, and you can get to Manchester in 15 mins. However there we’re some issues with our stay. First the whole place smells strongly of cigarette smoke and I found a burnt out cigarette butt in the shared toilet beside the sink. The room was rather scruffy with mould on the ceiling and mysterious stains on the bed sheets. The music from the bar downstairs was very loud and plays til late. Very loud karaoke. Also can hear customers drinking and yelling in beer garden til late. Only available light source is the ceiling light that comes with an added surprise of being a Bluetooth speaker which someone from the bar had un knowingly connected to while we were in bed late at night. The speaker was blaring uncontrollably and changing colours rapidly. The only way to stop the invasively loud sounds was to turn the light off completely as there are no buttons to control the speaker part of it. Obviously as it’s above a bar you know what you’re in for with the noise, and if you like a drink, karaoke, and socialising with the locals, it’s a good spot for you. If you’re travelling with intent of having a quiet and early night, might not be the place for you. All in all an unforgettable stay.

Would not recommend

The pub doesn’t open until 7pm. And it doesn’t close until 1am. Or later. Please stay away. We couldn’t check in when we arrived, as the landlord was elsewhere getting a slow puncture repaired. You share a bathroom and toilet. And apparently the guy who is the handyman lives in one of the rooms and wanders to the bathroom with hardly anything on. We left and went back home after we checked in and found the place was not very nice at all. Also they don’t do food.

Affordable, cheerful and with a great vibe !

It wasn’t the Ritz but it wasn’t sold as that! Good value for money, everything was as described and our host was cheerful and very helpful. The karaoke was fun in the evening and we had a good reception from locals and other guests there too. A good place to stay while on the road or for onward travel!

although it looks a little shabby on tbe outside the room was clean and warm the owner Peter really went the extra mile to be accomodating, giving recommendations for local spots to eat its above a karaoke bar so it was a little loud but not obnoxiously so, and Peter did offer to move me to a different room if the noise too much overall a very good value for money place to stay, especially with the complementary breakfast
