I booked a studio through hotels.com, the room was supposed to come with two beds and a couch bed. When I arrived the front desk clerk was helping someone else so I waited patiently while she helped him troubleshoot his bathroom fan noises. After she was done I started to check in but when the phone rang, rather than put the person on hold and finish checking me in, she took an entire reservation over the phone while I waited. Finally she got back to me only to interrupt again when someone walked in the door behind me with a problem with their remote control. I felt dismissed and ignored. Then I was informed the room was not a suite. Rather it was a two bed only, no extra bed, even though my reservation was for a suite. I should have just walked out then because it only got worse from there.
The room was so dirty we were afraid to put our luggage down, there were sticky places on the floor with hair and dirt stuck to it, the bathroom door had a hole in it that was sloppily patched with something rubbery, the bathroom wall had visible steaks of something brown running down the wall and a literal chunk taken out of the plaster near the baseboard. Meanwhile, the staff sat on the balcony smoking cigarettes and talking while we were unloading from the car. They continued to party there until late into the night. It did not feel safe, clean or welcoming. You definitely get what you pay for with this one. It was affordable and allowed pets so those were the two positive aspects.
