The rooms on the website seem okay. But they are dated and stuffy. There is a cleaning lady in the morning, then you need to ask the host for the restaurant to check you in or operate the elevator. There is only a box fan for ventilation. Parking is an issue. There is no night clerk after the restaurant closes there is no staff at all. There is hot water it just takes 25 minutes to get to the shower head. Second night in the hotel a 4' long slab of plaster feel from the ceiling at 4:15 am. Maybe if you drink a lot in the bar the room is convenient for sleeping it off. I would not otherwise recommend going to this hotel. It is a neat old building though.

Yes, all was fine except it's an old hotel and so is the plumbing. Shower water was very sporadic hot and cold, faucet dropped scalding hot. Probably won't return for that reason.

The hotel was beautiful with all the pretty Christmas decorations.. Lovely room with pretty furnishings. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to help with all requests. Very much appreciated.

It is a very old building and the rooms haven’t been updated. There is no temperature control in the room. It was 20 degrees out and I slept with the window open and the ceiling fan on and a sheet. There is no sit down breakfast until 11am. Before 11, there is literally a closet that has cold cereal, instant oatmeal and a kuerig. There was no staff to check me in and no staff on to check me out. They had a sign that said- we’re closed. My room was on the 4th floor - no elevator except an extremely old one that only staff could use.

There wasn't a breakfast. On the 2nd floor they had a couple packages of mini donuts, instant oatmeal and a couple of oranges and apples. Breakfast was offered on the website. A few years ago when we stayed it was a full breakfast at the restaurant.

The Denver General Hotel is a beautiful historical building. They were just begining to decorate for Christmas and it was so nice. Great location in downtown Wilmington. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was small but perfect for our needs. Very clean. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a nice continental breakfast. We are planning on staying again next time we visit.

All the info online made it seem quaint. It wasn’t. If you need to use the elevator before they open for the day, you can’t. Room was ok. Bathroom looked like it was added as an afterthought.

Our stay at the General Denver was really made special by the staff - both at the hotel and the restuarant. The service and the food were excellent. We also loved how walkable Wilmington is - we had breakfast and coffee at Kava Haus and it was phenomenal. A 10 min walk from the hotel, it was perfect for working off that cinnamon roll from the Kava Haus.

We loved our stay at this hotel! It was much more spacious than we expected, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The decor was charming, and the bed was very comfortable—we slept so well. It’s a beautiful historic building and made for a wonderful stay.

What a charming place! We found this little gem and so happy that we did. Typically don’t stay at a hotel that doesn’t have a pool for the kids, but it was a one night stay and figured they wouldn’t have time for swimming anyway. So glad that we chose it. Staff is super friendly. We ate at the restaurant and the food was amazing! Cocktails were delicious. Our room was cute, we traveled with friends and our room was like a little apartment. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. Cute little living room. Beds were super comfy and we slept very well. Breakfast was a grab and go, plenty of options to pick from. I hope we find a reason to come back.

We needed to check in a little after thr check-in time, but the team was willing to work with us and accomodate our delayed arrival which I appreciated. The room was nice, though I did feel a bit awkward having a connecting door to another room. I'm not sure if all the rooms are like that.

It's a nice hotel if you're looking for a scenic place to stay. We understand it's considered an historic property, but it could use some updating especially with regards to ease of charging mobile devices and air conditioning
