The receptionist turned out to

The receptionist turned out to be the worst that I've ever met. He refused to check out informtaion for me and asked me to get internet service out of 7 Euro and google the info myself. Rude and arrogant, what a pity, I really enjoyed my time in Amsterdam till the unfortunate encounter.

Home Again!

South Amsterdam feels like home because of my many trips there doing research on Etty Hillesum. I just stumbled upon ApolloFirst Boutique hotel and it was the perfect place! The style of the hotel, the neighborhood, the amazing Theater, wonderful breakfasts, and most of all the people I met there, the hotel owners and management Weiss and Rick, Brigitta,an actress, people in the neighborhood and my Dutch Etty friends who came to meet me there. Delightful hotel

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Bed very comfortable, but walls were thin so could hear other guests. Had breakfast on my last day. And by chance asked if they had gluten free bread. Two heated rolls were brought. Delicious. Also had gf muesli. Excellent breakfast. The hotel is in a nice area with trams nearby. Vondelpark is within walking distance.

An overall good experience

I overall had a pretty good stay at Apollofirst Hotel, where I stayed in a single person room. The staff was super friendly and the location is wonderful. The interior of the hotel is very oldfashioned, it's definitely a vibe. I rented a bike a the hotel for 18 euros a day, which could maybe have been a bit cheaper, but the bike worked fine and was comfy as well. There were a few downsides: The bed was unfortunately quite uncomfortable. I found the room to be a little too dark (the window was quite small) and the water in the shower randomly changed temperature sometimes (managed to burn my head quite a bit because of a sudden change to burned hot water). Apart from this, everything was fine.

Enjoyed our stay. If you like boutique ,quiet stay and not big box, Apollo is great. Right in the middle of neighborhood, central to area, close to transportation, restaurants,even walkable to Rijksmuseum area,Zuid station.

Nice hotel in a great location in the “old south”area of Amsterdam (not a touristy area). Hotel staff all great and special kudos for the manager. Hotel is on a quiet street but only a five minute walk from coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants and the stop for the GVB tram line. On the tram you can get to Museumplein area in 10 minutes and Centraal station in 25 minutes. About a 15 minute walk to Vondelpark and there are nice restaurants and shops near Vondelpark too.

This hotel was close to many visitor sites and restaurants. The staff was particularly helpful in addressing any possible needs we had. Dutch charm resonated throughout the facility. The housekeeping staff cleaned the rooms to perfection. We had a wonderful stay.
