This was a great hotel for the price, very convenient to the university and many restaurants decorated in a library theme (which was in keeping with the purpose of our trip—to visit the Joanina—amazing!) Breakfast included which was very nice. The staff were incredibly helpful and very friendly!! The hotel was formerly a Hästens Sleep Spa still designed in that aesthetic.

Very interesting book theme in all the rooms. I can’t imagine how much the owner spent on marble to create all of those marble book ends! It’s really an amazing place for a visit as you’ll never stay in a room like that anywhere else. The hotel is also very close to the university and to dozens of cafés.

Very cool hotel, the design is amazing, based on the ancient jeanine library. Our room over looked the river and was lovely & spacious. Breakfast was good quality and they provide complimentary tea & coffee with snacks from 3pm to midday, which was great, they have a nice rooftop seating are to relax too. Location is excellent for exploring Coimbra old town.

The staff were amazing with friendly service. The hotel location and ambiance were simply great. The rooms were very clean, neat, comfortable, with a wonderful decoration mirroring the famous Joanina library. We really enjoyed our stay and recommend this charming hotel.
