We stayed at the Village Hotel Solihull for two nights. The check-in process was straightforward. The room was good overall, reasonably well kept and tidy. We tried to notify staff of issues with the bath/shower not draining properly from the moment we arrived, via their online/QR code, but this didn't work.
The bar/restaurant offered staple choices such as burgers, fish & chips and the like. Not outstanding in quality, but fine for our stay. The staff were friendly throughout.
One minor gripe. Breakfast on Saturday wasn't replenished after 9am. We had to ask for cups, glasses, and bread to be refilled. A few other tables also had to wait around for these to be brought out. The breakfast itself was okay, although not as much choice as some other hotels tend to offer.
We didn't use the pool/gym due to time we had allocated, this is available at an additional cost to those staying in the hotel. It's open to the public, and both appeared to get rather busy in the evenings.
Ample parking available outside the hotel, 4 hrs free during the week, free after 5pm. £5 for 24 hours otherwise. I would say though that more needs to be done to curtail those parking on double yellows, pavements, and directly outside the hotel entrance. It wasn't like there weren't spaces across the car park. Lazy people causing obstructions in their selfishness, which may prove difficult for those w/ mobility issues.
Word of warning: major redevelopment ongoing during working week.
